BD 2013 interesting photos....
Got any?

This guy landed right after me with his vintage 5 cell and I noticed him using his rears to land. I asked him about it and he said something to the effect of he had packed himself a step-through. Not sure I see that but it's a nice look at a rarely seen 5'er.

With so many jumps packed into six hours, there are definitely some interesting photos. I'll dig up a few when I get home this weekend. I know we have some pics of a canopy hitting the rappeller ropes.

For now:

Looks like an old DC-5. A five cell accuracy canopy from the early 80's. Any other guesses?

Re: [zoobrothertom] BD 2013 interesting photos....
looks like it should not be used for base or packed by a guy who can pack a step through and not notice it...

Re: [base570] BD 2013 interesting photos....
I dont see any step-through in the pics. Maybe Im wrong, or maybe he meant line over? Unimpressed

Looks like a rear riser landing to me. Brakes stowed w/ brake line mod. Odd. See attached.

This photos also shows, very well, why you should only tie your slider down to your front risers.

Re: [base428] BD 2013 interesting photos....
True...so it wasnt a line over either.

Re: [ineed2fly] BD 2013 interesting photos....
I actually believe I may be mistaken, and the slider is not tied down at all, however, it still does demonstrate why you should not tie your slider at all 4 risers, as it can limit the amount of rear you can pull, especially on a more modern rectangular slider, this one is pretty long in the chordwise direction.

BASE428 is definitely right though, brake lines outside the slider (and presumably the guide rings as well). Anyone know if this was a slider up or down deployment?

I call bullshit. Theoretically sure. But in practice I highly doubt it. You don't need to pull risers very far before your canopy starts to stall.

This guy landed after our 3 way and his exact words were "well looks like I packed a step through". Just before our jump I watched someone go handheld do an unintentional front flipish and pitch across their shoulder. Crazy

and Don't Forget to add ..."and None would Expect Less ".

Pretty Commonplace for capturing the hideous and funny videos . That is because Bridge Day is a place where some BASE jumpers go to BS & party and maybe make Jump or two . Then skydivers, uncurrent and Illegitimate fill in the HUGE gaps between them Jumping . ... LOL

Re: [Fledgling] BD 2013 interesting photos....
On a rear riser landing, certainly. I am thinking more along the lines of object avoidance, rear riser turns, or flying your canopy backwards could require you to get deeper than your slider might allow.

Doubt it. If you can reach the stall point for landing than you would be able to reach it in any other scenario as well. And there is zero reason to pulling further than the stall point.
For the record I agree that no one should be attaching their slider to their rear risers. Just don't agree with your control logic.
