Fingerprint sharing/NEXUS Pass
So I was thinking about getting a NEXUS pass to get into Canada a bit more easily as I jump there frequently. One of the bits you need to do is provide them with fingerprint identification. Now, I had my fingerprints taken by the Buffalo police for a non-BASE related criminal trespassing misdemeanor (which I was acquitted for) a few years ago, so I didn't think it was a big deal to get them taken for the NEXUS pass.

Anyway, that got me to thinking, do city-level fingerprints taken for non-violent, non-felony offenses go into a national database? I tried calling the city PD, but they wouldn't give me a straight answer and were actually pretty rude to me.

Seems like on super high-profile jumps (which I will probably never do) that police pull out all the stops when looking for these heinous criminals, so i'd rather be waiting an hour at the border a few times if means keeping my fingerprints off some sort of NATIONAL list.

Is there a way I can somehow see if I'm on any "lists", or is it almost a guarantee that I am, and I should just go ahead with the NEXUS application?

Re: [xnewmanx] Fingerprint sharing/NEXUS Pass
Considering I've been printed for my previous job, and my current job, I don't even worry about it. I'm probably still on an FBI database and I"m definitely on a local database. I've given my name and address to the authorities, or at least city council, for legal events. I can be found but only if there's reason to find me.

Basically, if you have reason to believe you'll be caught and it would jeopardize your ability to work, then either... don't get caught, don't leave a trace, or don't do that particular jump.

The fact the PD was rude surprises me. It must have been you because the PD is always cooperative, fair, and nice.... yep.

Put it this way, They, the Buffalo police, have your prints. If the reason is not valid anymore, then then I doubt you'll come up. I don't know about national databases but unless you leave a print somewhere that matters, ... it doesn't matter.

I'll attempt to get a better answer for you.

Do a search, but if you were not convicted, you can have your print records destroyed.

was it a live scan ? meaning a computerized one. if it was, for sure it went into the national database.

you should be fine as long as you didn't' have a conviction..and you pass Canada's interview...
