No, I think you may be confusing data points- that stat was regarding your Mom the day after the Sturgis Harley Rally.

 

Sounded to me like he said 3000 base jumpers of that 10% use wingsuits. So of that 300 6-7% die a year. 6 percent of 300 is 18 which seems like decent estimate.
