Bridge Day 2013 and the Bridge Day Video Fest are just around the corner. Things are a bit different this year, so please make sure you read through the updated rules. I will be managing the video festival from a technical perspective, with familiar faces providing MC and other support.

The festival will be held on October 17th at 9:00 PM. The festival will be held at Rafters in the Holiday Lodge.

iLoveSkydiving.org will be sponsoring the video festival and has upgraded the video equipment. This year’s festival will be presented in full HD.

• 1st Place: $250 + new Exciter BASE container + parachuting industry donations
• 2nd Place: $150 + parachuting industry donations

I think everyone will be quite impressed with what Rick at ILoveSkydiving.Org has done this year.

A few weeks ago, Rick and I traveled to Fayetteville and spent the weekend rewiring the Holiday Lodge. Pulling cables across the bar ceiling at 1AM on a Saturday night with drunk chicks dancing five feet away was odd, to say the least. I wish I had photos. Nonetheless, we are wired and ready to go with HD outputs to six TVs in the bar, lobby, and ballroom. Donk and JJ did a great job in the past with their setup, and now we've updated things. I'm excited to see how things turn out at the BASE Videofest.

We give away thousands of dollars in prizes each year at the Videofest. Mark Kruse is giving away one of his new Exciter containers along with some cash and other parachute industry prizes. Do you need to be present to win?

I have a video I could submit... but I can't be at BD this year for some personal reasons. I do have friends still going though that could pick up potential prizes...

By the way, we have a great list of prizes this year......more than in the past. $500 cash prize pool, plus an Exciter container, plus parachuting industry prizes such as pilot chutes, risers, clothing, etc.

Just a FYI:

If you were even thinking about submitting a video, send me a completed entry form ASAP. There are only a couple slots left and I expect the 10 main entries to be full before the event.

The video doesn't have to be complete until 5:00 PM on Thursday, Oct 17th, but I need the entry form to secure your slot.

Are the winning vids floating around anywhere? They were epic and I would like another look.

Does anyone have any pictures or video of the event itself?

Edit to Add: Also any feedback, comments, complaints, criticism about the event (videofest) this year would be welcome.

I know the ILoveSkydiving.org guys were going to put the entries that gave permission to broadcast on their web site. I'll ask Rick Winkler to chime in. I'm still prepping a final email that'll go to all jumpers and it will contain photos of the winners, prizes, details, etc. I'll post here as well.
