no beginner level objects in my area (that i know of)
hi

i'm from NYC
so i want to take it slow progress smartly in the sport instead of having 15 jumps and to start jumping buildings or a 200ft cliff . so i went to the bridge twice and going to bridge day. but going to the bridge is like a grand at a time. and bridge day isn't cheap either.
and i cant take time off as much as i want to go there.
so i was wondering:

A: if some one knows of objects that are ok for beginners and could show me.

B: how do i progress and stay relatively current if there isn't

thx
Alon

Antennas (terminal or free-fallable freestanders)...surely there are some near you that are suitable?

What´s wrong with guyed antennas? Personally I think that an antenna with wires to three directions (120deg sector) with a good platform to push off from in a stable 5-6m/s tailwind is not too bad of a choice for a beginner SD object. Or at least that was the stuff where we started off because that was all we had available. :)

I started on freestanders. Then I moved and my go to was a 300ft guyed antenna. It definitely was a little intimidating but I absolutely agree with you.

I'm just reluctant to help people who can't help themselves.

well, if the locals are telling you that then i guess there isn't anything left.

maybe with time, you and the situation will both change and things will open up.

good luck.

Me neither... Of course you can argue whether things like Ostankino TV-tower is an antenna or not as it is a broadcasting tower. :) But that thing aside, as the topic of freefallabe freestanders was mentioned (I assume we are talking in SD context here) that´s why I wrote "Personally I think that an antenna with wires to three directions (120deg sector) with a good platform to push off from in a stable 5-6m/s tailwind is not too bad of a choice for a beginner SD object."

depends on what you/they consider local. They jump, do you go for ground crew? There are low key freestanders within a few hours of the ranch that are jumped and not "hot" that I know of. then again, I love the dark of night.

theschrund is spot on.
The lockals are not letting you in for a reason. Buttscrewthat. Move!.
BASE requires priorities to not kill you.
It's a no brainer. Jump nasties and get injured or get a Mentor or Move! or travel.
hope this helps.
Take care,
