Tallinn TV Tower strike
Thought you might be interested to see my recent strike,

Had a 180 with half a line twist, by the time Id managed to turn around and face the tower i didnt have time to turn it, so grabbed both rear risers to lessen the impact, first strike wasn't too bad, but spun me complety around giving me a full set of line twists,

Swung back into the tower with much more force (You'll see my legs go up in the video), I'm pretty sure it was this impact that broke my Tib and Fib,

After that I had no chance in turning the canopy again, believe me I was trying! Few seconds later I was hung up on a protruding antenna, and thankfully near a window which meant I could rest my good leg on the sill and take the weight off the canopy,

It wasnt long until someone came to the window and grabbed my harness, though it wasnt until my canopy was cut from above that I was able to climb through to safety.

Could of been a lot worse I guess so I consider myself fairly lucky, apart from having to cancel the rest of my summer plans and be stuck to the couch for two months!

Reiner

That will depend if they have to give him an injection to take it out or not!

That's great news!.......Do you think maybe if you left all the metal in, it might cause more problems if you have a hard landing or an accident again? I have been advised to get all my metal out as it can make it worse next time round.

In 2005 I caused myself a crash landing under canopy whilst skydiving: shattered heel, broken back, couple of broken ribs. They put a plate and 10 pins in my heel. I've been jumping actively on that hardware since then, and have also run a marathon, a half-ironman, etc.

My doctors were aware of my active lifestyle, and knew that I planned to return to it. I was never advised to have the hardware removed. They simply said to leave it in unless it was bothering me.

Matt, my leg looked just like yours, hardware wise. They told me they don't normally take it out unless it's causing problems. When going in for another corrective surgery for my foot, i asked them to take it all out and luckily they agreed to. Very happy it's out. Smile
