August 8th, 1978 . . . Happy 888!
I just dropped in to say Happy Birthday brothers. August 8th 1978 to August 8th 2013 is 35 years since Carl Boenish talked four Lake Elsinore skydivers, so he could film it, into jumping Yosemite's El Capitan. But I was thinking about Brian Schubert . . . who jumped El Cap 12 years earlier, and all the others, the Milwaukee aircraft mechanic who jumped inside a blimp hangar in 1948, Fredrick Law who jumped from the Statue of Liberty in 1912, all the way back to Fausto Veranso, who busted himself into a million pieces trying to sell crude parachutes to wealthy Europeans who lived in (very fire prone) 300-foot stone towers in the 15th century.
So Happy 888! I think I'll open a beer . . .
