GoPro night settings
Let's hear what you guys are doing to get decent camera at night.

This is what I currently do for low light.
PAL 1080 at 25 fps,
ProTune on,
White balance set to 3000k
Spot focus on.

1080p @60 or 45fps (whatever it allows for)

Re: [JBag] GoPro night settings
ive never had much luck with the gopro3black.
i modded mine, took out the IR filter, it works ok if you have a seperate IR lightsource.
but its really hard to focus it properly.
you can go to ragecams.com and they sell lenses specifically made for night shoots, and they work really good. im in the process of ordering a night lense and a filter for day use.

For what it's worth (read: this isn't worth anything), here is a random internet visual comparison showing the different settings. Should give you a baseline to mess around with.

Re: [JBag] GoPro night settings
I have two screen shots from the same jump, Chest cam was a GoPro1 with the best night settings I could find, Helmet cam is GoPro 3 black with the settings posted above.

The jump had zero moon light and only city lights.... which in South Africa are usually quite poor. The benefits of the gopro 3 are very apparent. If not for capturing the jump, then for capturing the bacon rash that's beating your buddy senseless Tongue

I can't post the video for obvious reasons.

Try using 2k resolution instead of 1080p. It will give you more fine grained noise, which should be easier to deal with in post (by using denoisers such as Neat Video).
