Ultra-low static line / dbag and brake settings
Hey all. I'm just curious where others stand in regards to dirty basement jumping and brake settings. For a ~110' span jump for example, I may want to use shallow brake settings to get better flare and flare with rear risers (even though it's usually not really necessary given good PLF, protection/armor, and wind conditions). My question has two primary variables: object height and wind conditions. How much of a difference in surge (amount of height consumed reaching flight speed) is observed with deep vs. shallow brake opening and would this affect choice of brake setting (given 0 wind and/or span) at jump heights as low as a <75' d-bag (not over water)? Would you use shallow breaks for any non-spans when static lining/d-bagging or is the risk of a 180 too much? How do wind conditions affect the answer to the first question for you? And the more broad question...how much do you feel a d-bag helps in regards to heading performance and when would you prefer it over a static line?
Edit: bonus point question...from what height (d-bag, 0 winds) do you think the jumper's feet would hit the ground at parachutal stall? This is just a curiosity question obviously (and dependent on wingloading, canopy size, specific canopy, concentration of gnats in air, etc)...I figure that's begging for broken legs at the best if someone was jumping at that threshold.
There aren't really "right" answers for most of those kinda things so I just want to be clear, I have my own ideas on the subject and am not someone looking to get into ultra-low jumps following online advice

If anyone thinks advanced low-object jumping configurations shouldn't be discussed publicly, feel free to PM me (or mods remove the post). I just haven't been able to jump in a couple weeks and been letting my mind wander after watching video of some 60' jumps.
