WANTED - Photographer and Video Crew for Bridge Day 2013
It's that time of year again.........and I need to hire a new video crew and one photographer for Bridge Day 2013.

VIDEO CREW
Prospective video crews should have solid video and BASE experience along with the ability to field 2-4 cameras in multiple locations. HD cameras preferred. Must be able to shoot every jump and landing and provide an edited DVD to jumpers by the end of the year. To be honest, I would prefer you simply put one camera at the exit point and one in the LZ and make a simple jump-jump-jump DVD. I have never accepted a dime from any video crew, but I do ask for a copy of the footage for my archives. Video crews seeking to build up their stock footage NEED NOT APPLY. Your hard work is paid for by selling DVDs to jumpers, but don't expect to get rich from it. You can sell the video on your own web site or I can do so.

One thing I've learned over the years is that you will never please everyone with this DVD. It'll either be too expensive, delivered too late, or someone's jump was missed. Therefore, I'm open to any suggestions from jumpers or videographers regarding the best way to provide this video to the masses.

PHOTOGRAPHER
Looking for only one photographer to shoot digital stills for six continuous hours from the boom crane basket. Solid photography and BASE jumping skills are a must. Must have learned the art of photographing moving objects, lighting, shutter speeds, apertures, etc. (which isn't easy for most). Payment is based on a commission of sales and you can make a jump at the end of the day (if desired). This is a work-for-hire job.

For further details, please contact me at this page and provide examples of your BASE jumping photos or videos if possible. I'd prefer that you provide a download link for your examples so my inbox doesn't suffocate on any email attachments.

I'd do it again, if you guys want me to. I know it took longer than anticipated in '11 to get them out to everyone but I've worked the kinks out and can def get it out before Christmas..

If I get the gig you can shoot for me.

If you get the gig perhaps I could do

some air to air footage for your crew.

Do you have the experience? Your day job is economics, mine is commercial video/photo production... What do you consider your qualifications?

If I were awarded the contract I would sub-contract
the editing work to a firm I found through a friend.
Not because I do not have experience editing and
producing jump flicks on DVD because I do, you
have a disc I made 10 years ago and liked it.

But you are right, I am not a professional movie
maker, nor do I own a machine big/bad enough
to handle this size of a project.

Plus I saw how hard you worked last time and
could still not meet the deadline... well using
more and more HD GoPro footage will only
increase the file sizes and hardware/software
requirements. I know I could not produce this
large of a project all by myself.

The firm I want to use has decades of experience,
a professional editing studio, some huge machine
with 12 terabytes of storage, dozens of multiple
processors, in house duplicators, blah, blah, blah.

So the bottom line is Economics, how to quickly
produce a large simple project at the lowest cost.

My plan is to rent the factors of production plus
the expertise/labor to expedite the contract with
use of my business contacts and the fun subject
material to hopefully secure a competitive price.

No one gets rich doing the Bridge Day DVD so
please do not misconstrue my reply as lobbying.
I am hoppy to shoot for you or anyone else cool
who volunteers to do it and is selected by Jason.

Sounds great Tom that you'd get a professional to do the editing,.....however, they can only edit the footage you give them. I haven't seen much of what you've shot, but the stuff that Bryan shoots is AMAZING, and the shot is only as good as the photographer/videographer shooting it!
From what I've seen over the past 17 Bridge Days (I missed one laid up in the hospital) it is a shitty, thankless job! Every year people bitch about the cost, the time it takes to get it, and the quality of the job!

Whoever gets the job,...I wish you the best,....just don't miss MY exit! WinkWink

a totally thankless job. something i personally would never even think about trying to tackle.

i will say though, Bryan has definitely proven himself as THE guy i would want shooting my BASE event. also, having taken on the BD challenge before, he knows intimately the monumental task he would be taking on and would most likely have a much better plan for producing it.

anyway, i just aim to stay on my feet for the day and try to help keep people safe. see you all on the exit! :D

I don't know, Bryan. You might have the experience, gear, and qualifications but do you have the news and entertainment connections of GreenMachine?

I have seen Bryan's work pop up various places through out my jumping career and always been very, very impressed. That's my vote.

[read in Samuel L's voice] Well Allow Me To Retort
When The Rapozer asks me about my "Qualifications"
all I can hear is Ben Affleck asking about a 'Retainer' Tongue

For those of you who want to enjoy the GreenMachine
looking shitty, well you can just watch my piss poor
exit for PlayBoy or take a look at the attached photo
from my sad/awkward red-headed-childhood...

As for the legitimate replies, I agree, Bryan is an
artist with a camera, which is why his work hangs
in my house and why my first response was very
positive and optimistic - as in him shooting the
event for me and/or me working for him.

Bottom line, I am not doing it this year, which is
all good in the hood and leaves me to focus on
other fun things like being launched in a catapult.
