Non-BASE-Specific wings
Have any of you ever BASE jumped with
a Falcon or Star-trac? So far I have only
done a dozen TARDs with the former.

Since I already own a pair of Trolls these
would only be used from legal bridges
over water, or possibly later a balloon.

It's an old topic but... I have a few jumps on daggers. I have a couple of jumps on flicks. Other then that every jump I've ever made was on non base specific gear. Or at least it was before I got my hands on it. I don't know what you'd call it after I was done with it. And by the way only a hand full of my jumps were from legal bridges and I generally don't get wet.

Re: [RiggerLee] Non-BASE-Specific wings
The reason I mentioned bridge over water is so the
nay sayers would know I did not plan to use some
marginal canopy on a technical jump. However,
the water is a plan B, not my primary LZ.

For those who don't know - Falcons are big, square,
have dacron lines, and were once rated as reserves
but they do have 9 cells.

Few years ago I had picked up a Falcon 300 for $200.
It included Paypal fee, shipping, connector links, etc.
so I did a few Tards with it off the Perrine.

Anne Helliwell looked it over and suggested I should
beef up the attachment point if I was going to use
it for any slider-down freefall jumps.

A friend gave me a bunch of his old gear, some to
sell and some just to get it out of a house he sold.

So now I also have a Falcon 235 and Star-Trac 245
Accuracy canopy that is in mint condition, 12 or less
jumps, in gold and black, been trying sell it for over
a year but I guess the accuracy guys are stocked up.

SO Lee, what kind of stuff would you do to a Falcon
or Star-Trac if you were going do a freefall jump??
Would you feel safer using them with or without
a slider? I do have a couple new tail-pockets in
my shop, plan on sewing them on the Falcons.

Re: [GreenMachine] Non-BASE-Specific wings
I do know a few people that use a Raven III for slider up tracking... and have had great success.

I bought a raven a few months ago. installed tail pocket, replaced brake lines with 900 dacron, built mesh slider. I plan to use it for unpacked, and bridge jumps.
