Hi, i have been skydiving for 3 years now, i am about at 80 jumps. My main goal was always to base jump and i think i am ready. i would like to get in touch with some canadian base jumpers.

I'm sure you've taken the time to read the 'getting into base' articles on this site and similar resources elsewhere, and so I'm sure you're aware that you fall far short of the experience levels and currency that current wisdom would suggest having before starting BASE.

So my question to you would be: what makes you special?

If you decide to jump, you are increasing your risks of death (or worse) without achieving all of the suggested requirements. If you are caught by The International BASE Association Enforcement, you could also receive strict punishments such as the dreaded, 'wagging finger'.


My 2 cents: Hang around BASE for awhile. Listen to every BASE jumper's advice but make all your own decisions. Have fun and don't ever let yourself get pressured into anything or out of anything.

I am not going to jump yet, i know i don't have the experience, i am just looking to get in contact with experienced base jumpers so i can get tips on what i should be practising. And by the way i've been in extreme sports for over 15 years, jumped 60foot cliffs with my snowbord, 150foot freestyle jumps on my motocross many times, so i have some knowledge on how to control my self in the air. But thanks for the concern.

Then why don't you know any Canadian BASE jumpers?

It's a catch 22! You don't know any base jumpers because you've never base jumped. How can you base jump if you don't know any base jumpers? What's a skydiver to do?

Almost 30 jumps a year. That's better then 2 jumps a month. Maybe you don't know any of the BASE jumpers at your DZ because you're so focused on skydiving.

There's not much base jumping material in my region as far as i know, i would like to meet with people from anywhere in canada that might know about base jumping material in canada

What's BASE jumping material?

Rely high things or mountains to jump of.

well you're 80 jumps in two years shows an extreme level of dedication and focus on canopy skills unfortunately there aren't any base jumpers in Canada so you're out of luck

Canada is not very big.

Don't worry about these dicks. The reason they are fucking you around is because there are no base jumpers in Canada. There was one, but he left.

There are 4 in the USA and 7 in Europe as far as I know.

well... as he has done some research and found out that there is no base jumping material either, I guess that does not really matter.

youre gonna have to find a mentor if you expect anyone to take you seriously. and you are gonna have to be willing to really put yourself out there if youre serious about BASE. how far are you willing to go?

When you are higher, you have more to think about what you are doing and you have much more leeway.

Ok, I'll bite. Low jumps are safer. Normally, one's speed is so low that you only break your legs or shatter the heels. I am not including flippydooz. Dont biite off morethan you can chew. Start low and then work your way higher. Speed vs impact is exponential. twice the speed, 4 times the impact forces. Think of it as giving a kid a lamborgini for his 18th Birthday. So much power but no place to park it. Youtube that. If you want to smoke ciggies you should start out with the Nik patches and work your way up to lighting your first. Nothing in this post is a joke.

Hey, nice avatar, did you do your aff at nouvel air? I did mine there in 2009. If you're out in quebec there are quite a few base jumpers, last I heard there were basically line ups at the antenna on the weekend

Read the BFL. You’ll see all the Canadians died awhile ago.

Where in Canada are you? It is a rather large landmass.

My guess is that the poster who started this thread has already gotten into BASE, and may very well already have moved on.
