Re: [elex] demented vs toxic
Toxic are made by Asylum, cost more,
and take a lot longer to receive them...

Demented are made by BadSeedBASE,
cost a little less, take less time to get.

I have jumped both, both work fine but
believe the manufacturing process for
the latter has been simplified to be less
labor intensive, which might explain the
vast difference in delivery times.

These are extremely similar in materials and construction. You can order a Toxic with F111 panels for the medial set of panels, but in all other respects these are quite similar. And they're both great.

However, in my experience, you will wait a LONG time to get your Toxic. Badseed will ship quickly.

Same as every single other bad seed product, copy of an existing product. Not saying that's a bad thing.

Got a hole in my toxic, ordered a BADSEED and had new PC in 10 days..

I will say the Toxic seems to be better material and near perfect sewing.

Re: [elex] demented vs toxic
I have found that the construction of the Toxic is better. I have two of them and when comparing it side by side to the demented PC, it is obvious from a quality of construction stand point that the Toxic is better. I have a 46" and a 42". I think going any smaller isn't worth the extra money. If your airspeed it such that you need something smaller than a 42", just order a standard PC. I will personally always order a Toxic if I ever need another PC.

Marty is an artist.

When you get something from asylum it's his hands which made it. As Green said Bad Seed takes short cuts which to me is doing something 1/2 ass.

You do something 1/2 ass your always sitting on one butt cheek.

And when the PC is the first thing in a chain of events to save ones life, time and money seem rather trivial.

just say'n.

Marty makes the least per hour sewing toxics, even at that price. The amount of work cutting and sewing one totally custom vs making a container or normal pilot chute is enormous. He says he raises the price, and people just order even more

He works hard enough that I say he deserves the money.

Re: demented vs toxic
While working at Asylum, I could build about 12 standard 42" Apex vented pilot chutes in a regular work day.

It would probably take me about three days to do the same number of Toxic pilot chutes.

Apex vented pilot chutes are just circles cut out of ZP and mesh with some load tapes thrown on the stabilize the bias, and a little mesh cap sewn on.

A Toxic pilot chute is a whole different creature. When we would do a run of Toxic pilot chutes, basically nothing else was going on in the shop.

Edit: What does a Toxic cost?

In the time it takes to put one together I could probably lay out and cut three containers and harnesses.

If you have ever seen a Toxic up close you quickly realize how much work goes into them. I've attached a picture of my 46 that was made about a year ago. The symmetry is spot on and the stitching is flawless.
