Base Jumper buys Pizza Tower!
Italian magnate and BASE jumper Edificio Saltador just purchased 531' overhung Pizza Tower at public auction for $250,000, due to the enormous damage done to the building by hurricane Katrina and the cost to repair it, there were no other bidders. The plan for now is to rent one of the parking lots and possibly the park for landings, refurbish just the lobby area leading to the planned high speed elevator, enclose the top floor as needed and build out bar, restaurant and over night sleeping accommodations.
Tandem base, bungy jumping and paying spectators will help defray costs and help make the charge to visiting jumpers more affordable.
