multi bridle
Hi, what is the general concensus on using a multi bridle? It makes sense to me but i have heard experienced jumpers condone them but with no convincing argument.

Re: [haiboeish] multi bridle
The new style (2 point) multi seems logical, but I honestly haven't seen any difference in real world performance.

I don't think there are any negatives, though, so if you have the cash, there's no reason not to buy it. Since you're looking at Apex canopies, I think it's a safe assumption that you've got the cash.

Re: [TomAiello] multi bridle
I've have good reliability w/o a multi. Lately I've been thinking about it, and is center cell stripping really that bad? Could it possibly be promoting center cell inflation before the rest of the cells. Or is center cell stripping (which I still see as symmetrical, span-wise) having little to no effect and is only controlled chaos like the rest of the opening.

I don't doubt center cell stripping happens, but just wondering if its so bad. Of course many more have a lot greater experience than I, and can shed more light on their experiences.

Not a biggy but there was a few multi hang ups years ago where the multi never released from its enclosure into its separate lines. Don't think it made much difference to the canopy flight though, also don't know if Apex addressed the issue in any way either.

Weren't those with the old style multi? I wasn't aware of any hangups with the new 2 point multi.

Correct. Also not sure if they reconfigured the sleeve in any way to prevent it happening on newer 4 point multis.

I'm not a fan of the 4 point multi because it can spin the canopy during slider down extractions in crosswinds.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend using a 4 point multi for any slider down jumps, just because of the chance for a crosswind issue.

The original multi (around maybe 99?) didn't have a sheath or stows. Todd added those later because of customer concerns (not actual problems, just concerns). The sleeve and stows seem to have created more real problems than they ever solved.
