Zakynthos in April
I've got some vacation time in mid april...whats the weather like there at that time of year? Worth going to in April, for jumping and enjoying the beaches?

Don't do it! Sure, the people are awesomely hospitable there, and the jumping is surrealistically beautiful. Sure, there are gorgeous beaches and the clearest water you'll ever see. Granted, the food is awesome. But. Wait, where was I going with this?

You're gonna freak out and fall in love. Get ready to gain 10lbs. Don't take too many 50-100Euro bills, it's a dinky island and making change is a bitch. The coolest ferries you've ever seen. The weather should be fine.

like spiderbaby said, bring plenty of cash and small bills. Also, get groceries and such in Alicante before you head all the way to the north end. Consider staying in Alicante, and if you can swing it, rent a boat!

+1

It's a bit further away but staying in Alykes is prob the way to go. It seemed to be a bit cheaper and a lot more to do. Just dont try and rent scooters or 4wheelers there...they know us by now. Also dont flush the toilet paper.

One last thing. Getting to Zakynthos is a bitch if you do it the wrong way. Most of us flew into Athens, rented a car, and then drove 4 hrs across Greece, took a 1 hr ferry, then another 30 min drive across the island. Apperently twice a week there is a direct flight from Zurich to Zakynthos on Mondays and Fridays if i remember correctly. So save yourself some money and a LOT of travel time by doing round trip to zurich then round trip to Zak.

Lastly, and not to be a buzzkill, but keep in mind you are on your own in Zak. No helicopters, no high line rescue, nothing. I know it seems thats not diff from an everyday bandit jump in the US but its not. If we get hung up or seriously hurt here or in many other countries they have rescue teams. This is not the case in Zak.

Yeah for sure, a responsible Zak team brings their own rope, 300m should do it.
