Re: [BASE1361] I have wasted my time
Hey man, I try to stay out of this, but I'm an old timer that didn't start BASE until I did a nice 1000 B Jan 1, 82. I had over 1200 skydives then and was still scared to death. No matter what you hear, Airtime helps!!!! Our rigs were scary back then and always opened off heading, but even the new gear will do it once and awhile. When it happens, if you have to think about your response, you'll likely have trouble. Anyway, get real pardner, the more time you have in the air, both freefall and canopy, will make you're survival rate much higher in BASE. It looks easy. It is easy physically. It all depends on what happens in your head the second you exit, or miss the pud, or the canopy opens 180 on a 2 second delay at Moab when you're 25 feet from the wall. Airtime develops instincts. Instincts keep you alive in BASE. If you have to think about it, you're likely too late. Thanks to the great equipment that works so well so long as you can open stable you may do fine, but try to prepare for when shit goes wrong. We have too many BASE deaths the last few years.
