Large PC management for static lines
Hey guys,

Unfortunately I got a 48" PC instead of a 46" which means it can't fit in my BOC. I'm thinking of good ways to manage the PC/bridle when it is required that you wear the rig up the object. I've tried the method of just inserting the mesh and leaving the ZP out but this bothers me it will snag something and the PC still doesn't fit well. I have also used the method of folding the PC as if going handheld and then putting it behind your chest-strap (apex down) and tightening the chest strap. This worked great until the PC fell out once and I haven't been too keen on it since.

What methods do you suggest for this situation? I was considering adding a pouch on the chest strap and routing the bridle over the shoulder and putting the PC and excess bridle into the pouch. Right now this seems like the best option.

EDIT: The title should just read "large PC management" as this would be used for static lines and HH.

I use a 48" for all my Low ff and staticline. Most of which is stashbag climb. But there are a few that i climb with rig on. For these jumps i dont base fold my pilotchute, I fold it exactly like my skydiving PC, TIGHT roll. That way its contained well, still can be used if i fall off object and just want to throw. and its easy access when your at the top. Just my $0.02

And you can fit it into the BOC that way? I'll give that a shot. Sounds the best solution! Thanks.

Yes, I can fit it into the pouch on my perigee, and on my gargoyle. If that doesnt work... maybe some kind of pocket on ur pants.. not sure what u would do with bridle.. expecially if there is even the slightest wind..

Just tried it. It fits so well I'm not even concerned about BOC stretch. I owe you a beer or two. Thanks!

Dude, while not recommended by some prudes on here, I stow my 48" all the time. Sometimes I even jump it stowed when I feel the desire to do flippy doos off of lowish objects. It has never stretched out my BOC faster than normal like some will speculate. Put that bitch in your BOC and climb up.

In addition to all that jazz, the difference between a 46" and a 48" is so small as far as total volume, I really doubt that it would make that big of a difference as far as BOC fit.

When I mushroom packed my 48" I couldn't get it sufficiently in the BOC without really forcing it. I could mushroom pack my 46" in the BOC though (before it died). *shrug* Guess it depends on different PCs/BOCs. It could well be possible to get the 48" mushroom packed in there.

I think the reason it was so different from the 46 to the 48 is that the 46 was already tight and 2" increase at that size is much more noticeable than say... going from a 36 to a 38

I admit I have not read thoroughly through this thread, but it's fucking pathetic.

Is there seriously a person who wants to shortcut around not being able to stow their PC ????????

Solutions
A) Get a smaller PC
B) Get an F111 PC
C) Get a larger BOC
D) Get a BOC made from stretchier material. (I will illustrate)

I VERY STRONGLY recommend option D (unless ou already have that). In which case get a 46ZP or a 48F111. Or just fucking quit (not whining, just quit the sport).

How much is your life worth that you are so god damn cheap/stupid that you want to find a workaround not having a proper size/bulk PC (or BOC depending on how you look at it) ?????

For years the BOCs were made out of material that barely had any stretch to it. The CR/BR/Vertigo containers are the ones that come to mind. As of 2009 the PerigeePro still had the crappy material used for the BOCs.

Gargoyles, DPs, ZAKs, and most modern containers have switched (or have always) used the much stretchier BOC.

I am attaching pictures.

Re: [Zebu] Large PC management for static lines
Possibly, you could be making your mushroom pack s-folds in the bridle and mesh too short... thus making your mushroom stalk thicker.
Making a really long mushroom pack can help that... since you won't jump it stowed anyway. But have you tried the other pc packing method?
Like this:
http://vimeo.com/26274995
that stows all your bridle in the bottom and thins out the pack too.

Or dont use a P/c- i am happy enough with my technique, i dont always use a pc. Your canopy flies better. YMMVCool

bundt cakes and Molly Ringwald aside...
How many BASE jumps do you have now?

The suggestion to NOT stow very large
PCs has more to do with hesitations than
with making your BOC look like a F A T
girl's stretched out black spandex pants.

On outside climbs I stow the 48 like a
SKY PC, pull it out up top, and fluff it
for freefall. My rule, if I am using a
48 it is probably too low for stowed.

TIP: use an office rubber band to
keep the PC out of your way and
from snagging when static lining.

Re: [GreenMachine] Large PC management for static lines
To Huck: I rather always use a PC. I'm sure that it'd be fine with the redundant pre-rigged CWY I use, but I have to have a PC on my bridle unless I'm doing an unpacked jump.

Green: I keep my basejumper profile accurate for jumps/objects. I don't want to go stowed with a 48" *ever*...It was only for having it out of the way until I get to the top to set up handheld or static line. I know using a rubber band is fine for a well setup SL, but I just can't have something on my PC like that. I usually have the PC and any excess bridle folded up in my hand and release it after stepping off.

Feel free to argue your theory on when and what to stow here. http://www.basejumper.com/..._reply;so=ASC;mh=25;
My point was clearly that it will fit.

I understood you. The numbers
question was for the picture man.

I never put a rubber band on my PC
until I am at the top and only after I
have attached the two break cords.

I agree, if it is high enough for my
green vagina to go stowed then I
want a 42", if it is so low I want a
48" then it is in my hand.

But luckily we all get to decide for
ourselves how we play the game Cool

BTW, we should have an AL/GA/FL boogie Cool. I could get at least 2-3 if not more from GA and 2-3 from AL.
