It seems to still be a common occurrence that people are being pulled up with external PVc handle on pc that is NOT taped up.

You are well advised to tape any external PC handle so thumb or finger CANNOT go inside pvc.

This is not done by gear manufactors.

I use and recommend external PVC handle on all terminal jumps BUT the PVC MUST BE TAPED UP



Anything that can happen will happen.


maybe this belongs in tech but it can start here again.

You can also fill the handle with some sort of closed cell or expanding foam.

I know that Apex now offers an option where they cover the handle with a gripper that blocks off the tube. I can't remember what they call it.

I went to the Apex factory near Perris the other day and they showed me a newish PC with handle covered they call it the No Slip Grip (i havent tried it on a jump yet tho)

Wonder why it took so long time :-)

It is soon 20 years ago I made my first experience getting my thumb inside the pipe. Lucky me it was a skydive and not a low pull tracking jump.
