Acceptable (Skydiving) Gear...
I was looking at the http://www.bridgeday.info/faq.php and noticed that the Aerodyne Triathlon is an acceptable canopy.

I'm wondering why is this acceptable for BASE?

And in that sense why stuff like the PD Storm or the PD Spectre are not acceptable?

There's a reference to a PD 7-Cell, which I suppose it's a very old model similar to the old PD Reserve.

Well I do own a Triathlon 220, and a PD reserve but I think I would always prefer to use a BASE specific canopy preferably larger than 280. I like me some soft landings. Laugh

It's not acceptable for BASE. It's accepted at Bridge Day. Huge difference.

Because the Triathlon and all the other skydive junk was "accepted' in the 80s and is now grandfathered into Bridge Day. Like the rule that states you are not allowed to jump a skydiving rig unless you have previously jumped it at Bridge Day. I'm sure Jason will chime in.

Smart choice.

Could be that Triathlon CRW has some "base canopy" features like tail pocket, non-sail slider etc, as for storm or spectre are normal 7-cell skydive canopies

its base jumping...why would you want to use skydiving gear? base gear has been developed through hard lessons to be what it is today. it works well for what it is designed for (sub terminal ff/openings)
