Opinions of my gear for first jumps
Hi everybody, I have been looking for second hand gear for a while and reading different post.

Finally I have found a SEVEN and a Reactor, and i am planning my first jumps with this combination. I think it is safe but would like to get your opinions. Im kinda doubting if I should have gotten a vented canopy.

Also found a good offer in a Snekor container, thinking of buying it for terminal jumps (velcro no good).

thanks for any answers

What size canopy and how much do you weigh without gear?

Its not that I don't want a vented canopy. I am wondering if I should have gotten a vented one better. I have read that the seven inflates just as fast or faster but I don't have the advantage in case of object strike (hope that never happens)

I weigh 63kg with clothes on. thats about 140lbs. Its a 240.

IMO buy a vented canopy and a 2-pin rig. You can use this for everything SD SU (as long as you dont buy light weight stuff) Why spend money on two different systems in the beginning. I think its best to have one container and one canopy to get familiar with.

I'm waiting on my 280 4vents canopy but will be jumping mostly lower objects for a while, am considering getting another rig with same size or maybe smaller with 2 vents for European big walls next year... I've heard 4 vents will be too much for sub / terminal jumps, any opinions on this?

Just roll the nose and use direct slider control and you will be fine.

If you are worried use a smal mesh slider instead, much cheaper.

Trolls have 5 vents and can be
comfortably taken to terminal.

There's more to a canopy than number of vents.

My Troll DW MDV opens soft at terminal with a large mesh slider, no direct slider control, no rolling of the nose and with the centre cell wide open. Other people may get slammed on unvented canopies and using all the packing tricks in the book.

As long as you're using a slider, it will be fine.

Vents do not increase the speed of bottom skin expansion (which is regulated by the slider), which is what makes an opening feel "fast" or "hard."

Vents increase the speed of cell pressurization--with the slider they make almost no difference in opening speed (because the slider is constricting the bottom skin along with the rest of the canopy).
