reefing a sabre1
k i know this is a skydiving question, but the BASE jumpers would answer this better. has anyone ever used direct slider control with a sail slider on a sabre1, like you would reef your slider on a BASE canopy?

i got a pocket installed on my sabre1 slider and its a forever snivel, and im happy with that, but i was just curious if it would work the way we do it in BASE

cheers

why would base jumpers answer this better?-curious.

I dont do hsit, i just roll the nose and shove it to the back, similar to how i pack SU jumps.

Re: [TransientCW] reefing a sabre1
I had the same thing done on my Sabre 1 and it takes a good 1,000 ft. to open, which is a lot better then cracking open like a slider down BASE jump at terminal, which is what it used to feel like. I have had similar concerns, but would not give up on my pocket slider since there is no going back to the pain of what used to be.

I have thought about having the rigger who made it sew the pocket a little at a time so it doesn't catch as much wind, and hopefully it would open just a little quicker.

I had my rigger make me a slightly larger slider. It doesnt snivel, it doesnt slam me, its snappy, but its good.

Fussy SKY Tarps
FYI --- Stilletto's SUCK.

Sabre-1 and any other SKY canopy
can be fiddled with a bit to get the
kind of opening you want.

If you use a lot of line stows with
new rubber bands it should help.
Once a month replace all of them.

Rolling the nose, 4 on each side,
that also helps. Plus I suggest
rolling the tail more than usual
which makes getting even new
slippery canopies in the bag
much easier.

Have never tried using an elastic
to keep the slider-up but would
not think twice about trying it.

Just go out last and pull high.
Remember you might have to
pump the rears to get it the
thing to open.

I jumped a 400' solo and had
one hell of a long ass snivel.

why!? I love landing mine...I dont really load it a lot (1.2) but it is really fun to land it with just a little bit of front riser input.

I plan to get a 120 when I downsize and then probably a 107 even someday if I keep skyjumping that long Laugh

Re: [TransientCW] reefing a sabre1
I've got a Saber 1 in the notorious 170 slammer size, and I just roll the hell out of the nose. Love this canopy! It used to slam me but I found that rolling the nose and a tighter roll of the tail solved the problem.

Re: [samadhi] Stilletto
Their nickname is Spinetto because of their
strong tendency to spin up on deployment.
They have a very quick recovery arc which
is not good for real swooping, because you
have to initiate your riser turn very low, and
lastly the canopy's response to toggle input
is just too twitchy for my taste.

I suggest you demo a Sabre2 in the same
you are currently jumping and let me know
what you think. Just remember not too
hook it down low because it really dives
compared to a Stilletto.

not for a newbie wingsuiter with an exit weight of 220

anyways, i really do like the pocket, its working fine just sniveling a while which is not such a big deal. i had just wondered if anyone has ever used their inner C line with a rubber band to try to keep the slider up for a while and if it worked....................

Re: [TransientCW] reefing a sabre1
I can make the pocket smaller for you if you'd like. Plus, I'm an old schooler who learned how to make brand new Falcon and Raven canopies snivel. I can probably help you with correct nose rolling techniques.

Hit me up.
