Line Trim for Apex Canopies
Does anyone know how to read the line trim chart in the Apex user manual on their website? I'm just curious because I want to compare the length of the lines on my Blackjack to a similar sized Fox or Flik. I'm sure "A-B" is the difference in length between the A and B lines, etc. but what does "base line" mean? Is that the length from the risers to the A line attachment points? What is "A-UCI" and how come the Flik has it but the Fox doesn't?

It's on page 55 of this PDF:

The Blackjack has the longest lines (at each size) of any BASE canopy presently in service.

The Mojo and FOX had roughly the same line length. In the next generation, the Flik went to shorter lines (compared to FOX or Mojo) and the Blackjack/Ace went to longer lines.

I don't have time to look at the chart, but in the top sizes the difference in length is quite dramatic--several feet of line at least.

Where does the Troll fall in the spectrum?

The Troll is in the middle, with the FOX and Mojo.

Basically it's roughly;

Flik/FOX XS: Shortest lines
Flik: Short lines, OSP
Troll, Mojo, FOX, Mayhem: Middle length lines
Blackjack/Ace: Long lines

The only canopy I own that can't be easily fit straight across my packing area (25') is an Ace 310. It fits, but you have to either work in an uncomfortably short space above the topskin, or you have to anchor the rings (rather than the leg straps) to the opposite wall.

Top size Dagger (313), Troll (305), and FOX (315? I think?) are all easy to fit straight across. I don't have a Flik 353 so I'm not sure how it's line length compares.

What about the "UCI" on the Flik? Any idea what that means and why the Fox doesn't have one?

UCI is Upper Control Inner. On Apex canopies with 5 upper control lines, the innermost line on each side is longer than the other four.

There are different methods for measuring trim. PD has a good reference for their technique here.
