Hey Guys, I've done my research, Ordered my BASE gear (unfourtunately havent had the chance to jump it yet due to 17week manufacturing times) but plan on it.... Booked into my FJC with extra training, Done extensive research more so talking to experienced jumpers & been skydiving a shit load since i first discovered how fun freefall really is.....

Is there anything you guys could recommend to focus on or be aware of in BASE or to assist in preparation???

Practice packing someone else's BASE canopy
as many times as possible, you will learn a
lot and gain confindence from both packing
and unpacking it (not jumping) by pulling
on the bridle and watching each phase.

Visualizing yourself exiting in the proper body
position, being calm, not realxed, just ready.

If you have spare time a quick refresher on
first aid would not hurt and just may help.

Go out and borrow a seven cell canopy from someone at the DZ if you don't already have one and do as many down wind, cross wind, angled wind, and accuracy landings that you can. Any idiot can jump from a bridge, its the landing and canopy accuracy that's going to land you safely. At the bridge you can get comfortable with exits and object avoidance.

Go to a gym or anywhere to use a tramp or diving board to practice being in the air and working on body awareness. if you aren't, get in shape, not weight lifting, but being fit and agile. Surfing?

Cheers guys!! I work remotely in Australia so dont know anyone with a BASE conopy to Practice my packing mate, Ive just been repeatedly watching the slider down packing dvd atm, Would be awesome to be able to practice packing now....
& in regards to go-pro thats the last thing on my mind atm buddy, good footage is always better than a photo but not important at this point in time....
yeah mate, Ive got a 160 7 cell canopy i jump often so dont have many probs flying & landing in any wind direction... Down wind landings bring out my athletic side of me but they still suck! hahaha!!
gym, trampaline or diving boards i've got no chance to try atm due to work, and unknown location (plan on finding a high diving board before FJC tho)

1 more question.... Whats the best hotel to stay at during FJC in Idaho by ur opinions and why??

Shilo is usually were people stay while taking snake river base course. They are reasonable, hot tub and pool has been left unlocked for us all night, sauna, and base jumper discount. Plus I hear you can buy meth on the 4th floor for those "go at it" days..

Ill check out that hotel tho, Do the have room to practise packing etc? gotta focus on that during FJC...

Try2Live is speaking from experience with the pace of the FJC. Being well rested to start is definitely recommended.

Take PLENTY of thermal underwear. It will be cold.

Also: Tom is da man. I did my FJC with him, hung out with a couple that was on the next course and "sat in" on the next (object avoidance) course.
If you can spend more time there after your course, do it.
