(17:00 GMT)Dan was speedflying in Switzerland with two friends on Saturday 15th September. After a successful launch from the Jungfraujoch at a height of 11,333ft, he did not land back in Lauterbrunnen Valley as planned. Search and Rescue efforts throughout the night have not been successful, and to continue searching for him we need your help to raise funds.
Dan's insurance is now exhausted, and his family have already covered the second deployment, but are struggling. We need at least £6,000 to launch another helicopter search.
It has been over 26 hours since Dan was last seen. We are still hopeful that he is safe but stranded in a remote part of the glacial valley awaiting rescue.
(22:03 GMT)We just got news from Tim, it's been about 30 hours since Dan went missing. We now have about 5 volunteers from the UK so far to continue the search. If you have some mountaineering experience, are quite fit, and have some time to spare please get in touch if you would like to volunteer on the search mission.
"Hi everyone, We've just come off the mountain from doing a foot search of the lower valley but we really need more people. Two of Dans friends from the Uk are flying in tomorrow and two mountaineers from Switzerland are joining to help early tomorrow also (one of them being the famous Ueli Steck).
Please if you know anyone that is fit and has alpine experience, let them know we need volunteers ASAP. Also please keep the donations coming. We really need the helicopter to go up again tomorrow morning.
The town to reach is Lauterbrunnen which is approx 2 hours from Geneva airport.
Any urgent calls contact me on +44 7881 787 757
Thanks
Tim"
(23:58 GMT) Your money will be helping with the following:
- Organising rescue dogs; possibly to be sent from the UK
- Funding the deployment of rescue helicopters (this is the one we need your help for! The government won't fund this!!!)
- Help to continue to conduct a well-lead and organised search for our friend Dan
It's too early to tell where this is going, but we do need your support. We still have hope of finding him, or at least knowing what happened to him - but every search costs money.
Friends and volunteers are out there, and a few more will be traveling out there at their own expense.
Donation link if you can - or alternatively if you know anyone out in LB who would be willing to volunteer for S&R etc.
