energy chews for climbing
anyone ever try them? i know a lot of runners use them and like them, i tried some of the gatorade ones last night. you just eat 6 of them 15 mins before the activity. noticed a bit of a difference during, but im not sore at all today which is a plus!

Runners (and others) need "fuel" after about one hour of exercise. Up until then most of us can survive with water. I use Leppin "squeezies". They are just a liquid carbohydrate and I need water to wash them down. Over here there are plenty of energy bars for sale. They are mostly just tasty carbo's.

It's important to take carbo's and nutrients in the 15 to 20 minute window AFTER the exercise too. That's when your cells in your muscles are crying out for fuel. If you don't give it to them you can feel "flat" the next day.

Pasta the night & or afternoon before & water on the way up, that has always worked for me, but I suppose it depends on what you are jumping off of.

Dude, it was 300 feetLaugh You are 22 years old, you don't need magic runner juice to do 10 minutes of exercise!

I do a lot of long single day alpine climbs and was searching for something to keep me going. Eating when working hard makes me feel sick and i found i was going almost full days without eating much. I was searching about carb gels and found this....

I've been using it ever since. It works great for me but i find it is still best to have a little bit of solid food for the stomach to digest, so also have a couple of muesli bars (granola bars) as well.

energy stuff is really expensive, at least in norway. What works just as well is
- honey in water during (my best tip)
- whole milk and chocolate powder after for vitamins B, D
- beer after
- whey porridge before, with raisins and milk
- blueberry juice for vitamins A, C, E...
- red meat after
- white fish before

I guess some of these things you just figure out after a while of being active. Food that makes you feel heavy is generally not a good idea to have right before excercise, but heavy foods are good after :)

My very best tip for hiking short (base-like) hikes, is water with honey, chocolate, nuts and peanut-butter jelly sandwiches ;) It's natural and cheap too.

If it was a regular climb youd be right, but climbing one handed while masturbating makes it quite a bit more energy draining

I used to fix Rick, Smitty and countless others a good tomatoe and wheat pasta dinner before they went to down town Houston.

Long time ago.....

Youre probably going to carry a liter of water anyway, so stop by your local brewer supply and buy a pound of maltodextrin. Should cost $2-3. Put a cup of that in your water, allow to disolve, then drop in a tablet of NUUN.

Should give you all the water, fuel, and electrolytes needed for an hour of intense physical exertion.
