A good demonstration on necessity to grab those risers after opening to not let yourself get twisted further. It's also a good idea to have a plan for any possible offheading scenarios and to start turning in the right direction immediately.
But still, it was pretty impressive the way he rescued his assSmile

If you go frame by frame it looks like he packed that opening, look at the way it came out of the container

the pilot chute is being pulled twords the wire once he pitches, and he has a leg really low. i would think bad wind conditions and body position

You can definitly tell there is a rather brisk breeze coming from the direction of the tower, I think there is a combination of several factors.
He is lucky for surecouple feet higher or further out and I think he would have rapped or colapsed on the guy wire.

For many years I have wondered if my canopy came off the wire on my strike (instead of having to use climbing ropes to self-rescue) - if I would have died or if the canopy would have re-inflated. I think because my strike was not too different than this one, just mid lineset so the canopy had a moment to wrap the wire, it is possible I might have lived if the two tension knots that were formed would have come out. Meaning the canopy was nicely placed on the wire so the "post wire deployment" would be clean. Makes me feel good.CrazyTongue

i saw a wire strike from a lucky lady named 180, she had a 180, rear risered it into a wire, canopy wrapped the wire and zip lined down it for a good 75' (craziest noise youve ever heard)
then it popped off at about 90' reinflated and ever so gently sat her down virtually unharmed.Smile

..." (craziest noise youve ever heard) ".

Ya it is louder than a person would think & it is loud & weird low vibrating Sounding 'THWaaaaaNggggg' noise .
Also shakes even the larger of towers pretty good when your standing on it after the jumpers canopy hits & comes off .

Vid. just goes to show that majority of jumpers get a free-pass in the BASE learning curve . With most getting several till debt collection time comes around .
