My ex's family lives on the IOM only 1/4 mile from the circuit. I have driven the course and can say that those guys are frickin insane for going the speeds they do on that road. Almost every year someone crashes and dies.

Average is over 2 per year. If I recall 237 dead in the 100 years it's been going, a further 2 fatalities in 2012. Ive been a number of times. The mountain section is open one way after racing for the spectators over the 2 weeks it's on. No speed limit. It's bloody carnage. I usually have a few flat out sessions in the evenings when most people are on the beer. I've never seen published how many spectators/road traffic accidents whilst tt is on die, but I would say a lot more than the 239 riders.

RIP to the riders. Heroes all of them. Balls of steel.
