another Steve Morrell video
I have heard this referred to as "Base Jumping from a plane". We in the family only learned of these jumps when after his death we found copies of the "not for family" versions of his christmas letters.

Re: [wallet55] another Steve Morrell video
Bob, would you mind putting this link into the other thread, so that all of Steve's videos stay in one thread?

They'll be easier for people to find that way.

Thanks!

Part of the story behind that jump is that his plan was to jump from 300 ft. When he was on the step, the pilot saw that the plane had descended to 240 ft. and he was yelling "NO...NO!!!", which Steve heard as "GO...GO!!!".

Not that it would have made any difference to Steve if he *had* heard the pilot correctly...

yes, i had heard that, but never heard whether steve ignored it or just misheard it. Several non skydiving friends have been puzzled over this video, not really realizing what it means. To them it is just a person getting out of a plan and deploying his chute. The most dangerous things are unrecognizable to the general public.
