Choosing PC for B250 (~70m)
I usually use PC 46" (f111) for all my slider down jumps (0-3 sec delay), but I want to make a low freefal (hand held) from B250 and I can't decide what size of PC to choose. How much height I can gain by choosing 48" or 52"?
I have only "assist" jumps from 250 feet
I jump on 265 FOX Smile

46 is fine but I prefer zp. 52 is overkill and canopy flight sucks a bit more.

I see you are from Russia. You don't need a pilot chute.

I have read in article "Ultra Low Freefall" by Dwain Weston :
"The best technique is similar to throwing a basketball through the hoop (a "jump shot"). You jump up in the air and you throw the basketball (p/c) upwards and forward when you are at the top of your jump."

Does anybody have video with this technique?

If its low enough to throw upward, I usually back hand it. Launch hard then flick it back hand up and forward.

That also works really well if you need to jump over a small platform a few feet down. If you must push out hard and be completely horizontal, its easier to back hand it. If you toss it over hand, sometimes you'll actually throw it below you.

I tried your back hand method
on a windy day and it worked well.

Thanks for everybody for video. It's very interesting.
I will try to make a training jumps on A390 and A300 with my 46" F111 PC before B250.

Re: [ilya86] Smart Idea
That is the best way to proceed,
perform the deployment method
from a higher/more forgiving exit
then once perfected move to the
lower/more technical object.

If it works right the first time you
just get extra canopy time, but if
something goes wrong you got a
pinch more time to deal with it.

I imagine SKY jumpers and maybe
few Slider-UP-ONLY BASE jumpers
thinking this is retarded but really
140 feet difference is huge on the
low end of the spectrum.

Apex makes a 48" ZP which I used on a regular basis from 220'. Go & throw & I was open low enough that I did not have time to notice the effect on the canopy. I use a Flik 293. Good luck!

Re: [DAVE858] Choosing PC for B250 (~70m)
I freefall 200ft regularly with a 46zp vented. Plenty of canopy time for a 90 degree turn and flare. 250 should be no problem. I basically just toss it straight out as I exit. Be ware on things that off headings matter, I have seen people try to do crazy tosses that mess up body position. Altitude matters less when you open up straight into your object.

Hj, ill show you what I mean next time I see you. Its easy and wont mess up anything. That said, if its a normal exit, I do what you do.

Is it a pin rig also? pin rigs open quicker generally if the pins are primed. velcro can take a small amount of time longer.
