If I went to Lauterbrunnen...
Hi. I first visited this area ten years ago on a school skiing trip, and have since been back a few times - all in winter. I know the area pretty well, from Interlaken up both valleys. I was staying in Wengen in February this year and did see one guy gathering his chute up at the bottom of a wall half way between Lauterbrunnen and Stechelberg, but no other jumping activity. I wasn't down in the valley very much, mind you.

I have to take three weeks of holiday before mid September and am stuck for things to do. I'd rather it was cheap because I've spent a fucking shitload on skydiving this year :/

I'm still a fairly novice skydiver so am not looking to BASE jump yet, but if I turned up in the Lauterbrunnen region this summer with a tent and some time, would it be pretty easy to meet some jumpers? I don't know anyone in BASE jumping, so wouldn't have any contacts, but if I just found where they hang out and bought some beers do you reckon I could learn a thing or two?

I'm sure they'll be friendly and welcoming, but I wouldn't want to seem like some kind of idiot hanger-on, or waste their time. Would I be allowed to join them at exits (and landings) and observe? Maybe get shown some gear, see how they organise jumps, etc.

Stuff like that, I guess. If I went, BASE-perving wouldn't be my only activity, I'd be off hiking and lounging around in the sun as well. But how easy would it be for a noob like myself, with some basic awareness of mountains + skydiving, to tag along with some jumpers for a few days?

Thanks,
