pilot chute packing
just curious and kind of drunk... have you ever had a pilot chute hesitation and how long do you leave your pilot chute packed before jumping? I have never had one knock on wood and repack it if its been more that and hour or two and never leave it packed in the rig if im not jumping.
just wondering if there is a mussel memory and cooralation between the two.

Re: [wasatchrider] pilot chute packing
Yes, a couple times...

Both times I was going hand-held on
low towers with a very short delay...

First time was several years ago when I
had yet to comprehend how much air
speed is our friend... did a Go & Throw
and the strong tail wind kept the PC
from inflating for an extra second but
opened normal height, landed fine.

Second time was probably because it
was very hot, I was sweating, got the
PC in my hand ready to jump but then
had to wait at the exit with a newbie for
a considerably long time, took a half
second, pitched and nothing happened
for a while, opened low, landed in a tree.

I never pack my PC before jump time.
I used to keep them folded up in these
vinyl bags that drapes come in but now
I store them flat in stack between use.

i keep them at the bottom of my stash bag and pack them when i am about to jump, at the exit point usually.
