the article states that he was not wearing a rig, and slipped while searching for the exit point.

"A 31-year-old Russian has fallen off the Dragon Wall on Wednesday in St. Lorenz am Mondsee (District Vöcklabruck), 200 Meter to his death. While trying to find an exit point, the man appears to have slipped.

Searching for the exit on their own
However, the group from Russia were first timers at the Dragon Wall and did not know the exit point that is usually sued by the BASE jumpers, who jump frequently. So the russians tried to find the exit on their own, and were climbing around without their jumping gear. This is when the accident happened.

Discovered after search
The 31-year-old Russian slipped and fell 200 meters to his death. His friends immediately alerted the emergency services, but they had trouble to make the situation clear (edit by the translator: sounds like language barreer). The Mountain Rescue Service had to a hard time finding the scene of the accident. Shortly before midnight, they were able to locate the body of the crashed.

Extremely risky rescue
The extremely risky rescue from the steep terrain could be continued until Thursday, it is likely to persist into the afternoon hours."

The Article seems to be well researched.
It also makes clear that no actual BASE Jump took place, as he wasn't wearing a rig.

i really don´t get it. after an almost fatal incident with a czech guy searching for the right exit, jumping off a wrong exit and luckily survived, this fatality is just insane.

it´s so easy: CONTACT THE LOCALS!!! a very simple and basic rule and this fatality would have never been happened.

sorry for your loss my russian friends!

Sad news. Thoughts and prayers to family and friends

BULLSHIT!!!
that guy slipped searching for an exit, so its nice that you advice people searching for a rope which would not have changed anything for this incident, but you should actually advice them to fucking call the locals!

CALL THE LOCALS!!!
there are 3! jumpers living within 10 minutes by car from the landing area, and another 8 wihtin an 1 hour car ride.
most of the austrian jumpers read the forum, and its even possible to directly retrieve telephone numbers from austrian jumpers from the internet (there is a well known austrian tracksuit manufacturer is based about 40min away from that wall)

My dear friends, who lives in Austria (in Salzburg area), Sergey Viter's father is flying tonight to Salzburg. He needs a place to stay, and all hotels around are occupied (tourist season). To reduce the expenses he's alreafy facing with loss of his son, can u, please, help to find him a place to stay? Maybe someone has connections to hotels, motels or rental flats for decent price? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
