Re: [MBA-PATTO] Fatality Greece
Sounds like the wife did not witness the fall, he was talking to her via mobile phone at the hotel.

Re: [nickfrey] Fatality Greece
very sad

after a friend was caught up on the cliff in similar circumstances many years ago I always jump with a sling, crab and cam in my saddle bags.....might not have helped but worth thinking about

Re: [Freeflysmiley] Fatality Greece
At the Invitational in August, I and another Greek High Angle Rescue expert will be training with the Zakynthos Fire Dept. on how to get a stuck jumper off this cliff quickly and safely. Many climbing style anchors will be placed on both sides of the exitpoint and a 250 meter rope will be purchased. This wall is relatively overhung, but a rescue should still be very feasable with the proper training and equipment.

So very very sorry for Jakes friends and family, RIP and fly free Brother.

Also still need to sort through the info before a final description.

Re: [base695] Fatality Greece
Used these before in my aid climbing career. Although you wouldn't want take a fall on one they're good for static loads.

Re: [adamUK] Fatality Greece
I've often thought about carrying a hook with me when jumping cliffs. I've used the skyhook from my old aid rack in conjunction with an aider to reach the bottom of a ladder that was missing the bottom rungs.

Sad to hear about the incident... perhaps a hook is not a bad idea to start carrying.
