Nomad travelers insurance excludes Australia as well. Must be the bad rap for all the poisonous critters.

Re: [Jubal] Ozzy insurance Hell no
Here is an explanation from one of the people from HCC. I believe she has been on the forum before trying to help people out. This info was emailed to one of the Aussie guys:

"We cannot cover Australians who are permanently residing in Australia for international coverage. This is because the Australian government has the standardized care for domestic coverage and is now wanting to keep the economy stimulated by not allowing non-Australian insurance companies sell to their residents.”

and

"Because of Australian Law as it pertains to its citizens being covered under the Australian Medicare System, we can no longer offer coverage to individuals meeting the following criteria:

Any Australian Citizen residing in Australia (i.e. citizenship and home country = Australia)
Australian Citizen visiting Australia (regardless of home country)

Australian Citizens whose Home Country is not Australia may still purchase coverage provided their Destination is NOT Australia.”

Sucks balls.

Are these changes specifically regarding BASE or are they for travelling Aussie residents generally?

Re: [BigfcknG] Ozzy insurance Hell no
did you end up getting any further with this, or are just jumping uninsured at the minute?

Uninsured. Pulling high has been working, mostly.

When you hurt yourself os just sell the story to aca about how the oz government has stopped you from being able to insure yourself os for participating in a legal activity all in the name of fisial stimulation.

I was able to find an insurance company that will cover Aussies on jumping trips to the USA. It won't help for jumping in Australia, but at least it's a start.

Coverage is on a per-case basis, so you have to apply, but it looks like they'll basically cover any legal jumps. It looks like the maximum coverage for hazardous activities is US$250k.

I forwarded the information to the ABA a while back, and I think Gary was looking into it further, so I'd suggest asking him if he found any more specifics.
