I've been looking into BASE on this site and round the web and am having trouble with finding out what is needed of a good ground crew...

I want to get into BASE and am taking my first steps by getting my aff license this summer but would really like to join a ground crew as advised by this site (and others) but am really unsure as to what a ground crew does.....

If you could help would be very greatful as not many people seem to be into BASE jumping in Bournemouth (england) Hahaha so its hard to get any advise on where to go, who to talk to and if I'm just fucking crazy!!!!! Would be good to talk to anyone with some experience....

Depends on many things....

The type of object, legal, illegal, techinical, etc.
Also depends on your skill and experience level.
It can range from buying beer, driving, shooting
photos, carrying gear, or providing emergency
medical assistance if applicable, even calling 911.

Getting to tag along on a BASE jump lets you see
the actual process, what it really takes to make a
BASE jump, because there is tons of B roll we all
cut from our videos, packing, hiking, climbing up
rusty steel ladders carrying 30 pounds of gear...

A good ground crew is a crew that will take the heat for you if you get busted. A good ground crew is one that will stick with you thru the thick and thin. They will be the ones who decides who is going to jail, not the cops. They will be the one to volunteer to go to the hospital and say I need morphine and I need it NOW! A good ground crew is one that has a cousin who works for the power company and they call him to come get you off that street light. A good ground crew is one that will step up and take the blame if you didn't get to jump that night because of the winds. A good ground crew will always have that cute Guatemalan chick on stand by if you need to just call it a night and go home. A good ground crew will pick the stems and seeds out for you. A good ground crew will always tell you how cool you look with your rig on. A good ground crew will even kick Chuck Norris's ass if he catches you climbing his antenna. A good ground crew is ready for anything.

Jeeze, what are you carrying up antennas?

A rig and protective gear (and at minimum 3 gopros to look cool) can easily weigh in at 30+ pounds. DUH

Cheers people for some answers, your the first to be able to give me ANY!!! May have come across as a stupid question but I am completly new to this...
Think I can handle all of that. I'm well into trad n sport climbing (for bout 9 years) big adventures, carrying lots of shit an being responsible for people and their lives is all part of the day. As for ol Chuck, ill rip that wispy excuse for a beard off his chin in a heart beat if he thinks he can fuck with me or my crew!!!!!!!!
