An intro, life story, plea for help.. or whatever
So I've been lurking for quite a while now and figured since I've read and reread a lot of articles/threads/stories/tips/disclaimers on the internets, maybe I could finally reveal myself to the community before starting my literary cycle again. My name is Adam, and I have 250 and counting sky jumps. I do my best to jump and be out at the dz every weekend just to be around that fabric and get my fix. The learning process is very important to me and as a relatively low number jumper at this point I try my best to evaluate what I observe and learn from all skydivers, taking one step at a time.
I never gave BASE too much thought when I started (skydiving was all the thrill I could handle), but as the feeling of free fall slowly became my comfort zone, the allure of jumping off fixed objects slowly grew in the back of my mind. My fear of heights has never been that it is too high, it has always been the question "What if I have a momentary lapse in judgment and jump. How incredibly free would that feel?" I have had that question and fear for as long as I can remember seeing over the rail of a bridge, and so instead of trying to live the experience by going back to sleep, attempting to re-live one of many "falling dreams", I believe that BASE will be the right answer to a lifelong question, a true look into the eyes of fear, and an incredible adventure.
I don't plan on making my first jump until next spring (2013) (is it here yet?). I know I can get even more comfortable under different canopies after another summers worth of jumping, and when the time comes for that first bridge jump, all I want to worry about is my exit and the person holding my pilot chute (but who am I kidding, there will be SO much more running through my mind up until my feet leave the ground

So yeah... That got a little deeper than I had anticipated but whatever. BASE doesn't seem like a shallow thrill, haha. Like a great beer I imagine it gets better with age, and experience in this case, and I can't wait to taste it! But until then any and all advice/criticism is appreciated. If there is a link or video that you think I, and all newbies for that matter, should see please send it this way! (I like reading so even if its a well known article I'd be down to read it again).
Best and Blue Skies,
Adam
PS: I am also slowly working my way around looking for someone to do ground crew for so if you can and would like to make that wait go by quicker... I would be stoked :D
