Re: [Treejumps] To All WannaBe BASE Instructors:
I completely agree with you. There is nothing worse then fishing dead bodies out of the river, especially a friend.

I would also recommend one of these Go-Pro mounts when you're ready to mount a Go-Pro:

I know, they're $70 bucks and a complete rip-off and your money could be better spent on beer, weed, and gas for your next base adventure, but it's better than ending up here:

That's a great suggestion and all, Mr Old Timer, but how then, will they get the sick, radical, and gnarly pictures of them jumping the Perrine Bridge to post to facebook and the video for youtube?
The world needs more twin falls/moab footage, a few dead wannabe's is a small price to pay.

Agreed noobs shouldn't be wearing Go Pros. Agreed, the Wife and I love our snagproof? Go Pro mounts. A touch spendy but WTF? Love the added safety for most any reason.

have you guys seen the "low pro" mount? its a cnc'd metal mount that bolts onto the front of a helmet with either regular screws or nylon break away screws (both are included) less snag happy and its around 35 bucks. might wanna check it out! im gonna grab one for skydiving when i have some extra cash.

+1 I like that picture. Looks like a fun E, how tall is it?

And Tree, is there any outside video of said event? Would be interesting to see. Especially for all of the new jumpers who don't get out of bed without putting on a go pro or 2.

Doesnt it depend on the student?Thats the issue with with trying to put everything in a box... It doesnt fit...Base doesnt have rules, we are self governing( as individuals)... Its the reason i love this with a passion.

I wore gopros on all my first jumps- hell my instrctor recommended it.
Whats he know, he only has 3,000 jumps.

Re: [Treejumps] To All WannaBe BASE Instructors:
It depends on the jumper. It also depends on the deployment method, S/L or PCA's don't seem like too much of a risk. Also, bridle snags aren't just limited to new jumpers.

What about bridle wraps? You know, when the bridle is wrapped around an arm or leg for various reasons. Should new jumpers not be allowed to to go hand held or go stowed?

Or what about new jumpers pulling low? Is it ok for a jumper with a thousand jumps to pull low and not a new jumper?

BASE will kill whoever it wants, wherever it wants, and whenever it wants. BASE doesn't care if you go home tonight. It's obvious that you do. But in reality, you can not stop it, you can try, maybe you will prevent a death, that would be great. It's like telling people not to text and drive. Nobody listens because after all, it can't happen to them.
