tailgate dacron cord?
Just curious. The use of a peice of dacron for a tailgate is always used, but why? couldn't you use some paracord? Might be a dumb question but one I haven't really found the answer too.

thanks

Re: [weatherm] tailgate dacron cord?
you would probably loose it every jump you need somthing thick enought to staty in but you could use whatever you want.

Its also harder to band flimsy cord, and you'd have to do more wraps to get the same hold probably. Convenience...

because masking tape hadn't been invented yet. Tongue

I think also thinner cord can get easier into the holes of the mesh of the slider, if you use tailgate on SU jumps and use large mesh slider. This can result in some slider hang up.

Never been case of Tailgate ever getting involved in slider mesh hang-up with people leaving them in the in-board line on Slider-up jumps .

900 Dacron is easier to Fid inside itself . Also easy to grab with fingers & easier to wrap . & easier for the loop inleted into the in-board 550-line to grab & hold the larger Tailgate that is placed inside it .

Didn't know you were god and see all the jumps :)

I myself had few cases that had to pull it out of the slider while packing. I don't know if that would lead to hangup, though but that's one of the reason why i don't use tailgate on SU jumps. On the other hand my brakes are ser very deep and tailgate is right where the slider.

hmmm. For my education please explain how deeper brakes change the position of the tailgate located on the C line? Maybe I'm missing something but my DBS only seem to effect the position of my tail and my brake lines. Not my slider or tailgate position.

Edited to add: not that I jump DBS on SU jumps, just trying to figure out how your deeper than normal brakes affect where your tailgate is located.

well obviously if you are in shallow brakes your brake line are just abit longer that would put your tailgate hier if you keep it at the base of the brake lines. for me i use a tail gate for slider down and tape for slider up on brake lines and only d lines.

Basically my brakes are so deep that I had to move the tailgate much lower that what is was originally. Attached photo so you can see what I mean.

Of course I realize that this is usually not the case.

Well obviously your brake settings don't change the length of your C lines (where the tailgate is located) or your A lines. So I just stop pulling the slider up and corner it when the slider hits the end of the A lines so the tailgate is always in the same place in regards to the slider when I jump slider up. Then I use direct slider control to keep it there. Maybe thats not how you do it, maybe some will think it's more prone to line overs if you leave 6 inches of brake lines out of the top of the slider, but thats how I was shown through some really trusted mentorship. Guess my question should have been worded differently.

I see. Thanks for posting the picture.

Re: [skow] tailgate dacron cord?
So basically you are saying . You never had a case where your Tailgate caught & tailgate entangled & hung-up with your Slider either ? . & also never heard of a Case ?

But saying . Tailgate was ripped-out when rapped around the Break Lines on slider-up jump. When your Tail busted open on opening & Tailgate fell into the Slider, & you say, found Tailgate laying there when you were packing ?
