Re: [whtmkt] Coach and school
please read the articles, the various threads in this forum (especially the sticky ones), etc.
Skydiving:
accepted, available, incredibly structured, provides some basic skills required for BASE, money is the gateway, people will kindly shepherd you through the process (as long as the money flows), and little is required of the student.
BASE:
NOT accepted, rare, no organizations (so no structure followed by all), requires skills few will ever develop, money will NOT guarantee success, social skills tend to be the gateway, and the novice SHOULD be self-motivated, trying to be as independent as possible.
some skydiving schools are openly hostile to BASE, others are tolerant. I know none that teach both. (BASE instructors are quite rare.)
start skydiving. discover if you enjoy it and can build competence. learn rigging. if so, then you MIGHT be ready to BEGIN BASE.
becoming one of the few who make it through skydiving will separate you from the pack of wannabees and earn you respect and credibility.
