Re: [gahnananana] scariest jump?
That would have been my very first jump. 300' A and when I counted to 3 to release the rail my brain said GO and my hands said "F*** YOU." Brain and hands didn't want to cooperate. Hand to let go before I jumped and then the count down. BEST jump ever. That is until I pick BASE back up. That was back in 2004. Got my only 3 jumps from that A. Now I am taking the FBJC in Twin Falls to get more exciting and pucker factor jumps!

Re: [gahnananana] scariest jump?
So what was scary about it? Did you have 180? line twists? clip a wire while under canopy? tower strike?

your description sounds like it was an uneventful 400ft SD jump? no?

Re: [dride] scariest jump?
I was wondering the same thing. I kept reading the line over and over thinking I skimmed too fast and missed the pucker factor.

Wait for it.. Wait for it.. nope, nothin.

Too lazy to climb the next 600 ft eh??? Haha, jk. At 14 jumps every jump is scary.

My scariest jump? Hmmmmmm...... Oh yeah, that time I rode a spinning tension knot into the side of the Eiger. Yep. That one.

Re: [dride] scariest jump?

Getting dropped by my PCA'er from 190' on my first cliff.
Bridle under my neck on my first sub 250 ff with strong right to left crosswind (that was pretty dumb)
just clearing power lines after an offheading.

Me? I am most scared doing something I havent done in awhile. Currency helps a lot with how confident I feel at the exitpoint

1300'(?) A I was exhausted from climbing and felt like passing out. I shoulda brought a quick draw to clip in. I'm scared of heights, too.

Re: [gahnananana] scariest jump?
I have seen some scary ones, but have not had any hairy ones happen to me yet. So, one that I saw; We jumped a 350' tower that was along side a road with woods on the side that the tower was on, & on the other side was a row of trees along the road & soy bean fields. I jumped uneventfully & landed in the soy bean field. My friend had a 180, was able to clear 90 degrees of it before he disappeared into the darkness behind the trees. That was shortly followed by a loud crash & branches breaking. I expected to find him impaled or hurt badly, instead he was about 12' in the air climbing out of his harness. We had to leave the rig & get it the next day. Nobody hurt, but it was definitely a scary one.

1800 ft popular A, was trying to take her deep and then I had a hard pull! those on the ground said I was under 100ft and went fetal. The grass was greener that day, I no longer get down and dirty! Mr Pull high now, :)

Climbed to 400' on a 1000' guy. canopy clipped a wire at about 150' and proceeded to collapse. Re-inflated at about 70' and then I smashed into an access crane bucket. Stuck there hanging for about a half hour before the other guys got me down, then they worked out a way to rescue my canopy. Finally I had a two hour drive back to home to think about it. I was certain I was dead after I went back into freefall after I hit the wire. Fucking stupid!

Did you wake up the next morning with sheets saturated and body saturated head to toe with a cold sweat? I ain't gonna lie - my guy wire incident, caused some really strange things to happen to my body that night...

Re: [nakeddave] scariest jump?
was it with halfpastniner and an austrian? haha i think we jumped the same tower Wink your story was part of the reason it got me hyped up before we jumped!

Re: [tdog] scariest jump?
Can't relate to the cold sweats but I didn't sleep at all that night. That happened months ago and I still have a golfball sized lump on my outer thigh that hurts like I just did it.

Re: [base283] scariest jump?
Kinda hard to set up a HH at the exit point because you have to climb out of the structure and jump from the side.

Re: [Halfpastniner] scariest jump?
Wires really freak me out, especially the kind you can't see. Maybe after a couple daytime guy jumps I won't be such a pussy.

Jump #274
1600' A nighttime
climbed to 800', a donut platform.
jumper 1 went first, everything fine.
i plan for a front flip.
i had done 22 previous jumps with single, double, or triple front flips, though, all from a stationary exit.
this time, with my back to the tower, i took a few 'running' steps into the exit. i initiated a similar amount of momentum from a stationary exit, but since i had more forward momentum, at about 2.5 seconds i began to overrotate the flip. i had spread out to try and stop rotation. no dice. ended up head-down, slightly going on to my back. completely stalled. i kicked my leg to get belly to earth.i was facing directly at the tower, but the leg kick also gave me rotation on a vertical axis, so i was turning away as i sped past the 300' light, oh i guess about 45' from tower. i had my hand on PC at this point, and once i was pointing kinda down the wire, i deployed. as it stood me up, i thought for sure i was going in. i was just too low. my parachute opened 45 degrees left, which left me facing just about the direction of exit.
in the 2s canopy ride, i grabbed toggles, flared as hard as i could, and had a feather-soft landing on the roof of the building inside the tower complex. i landed about 10' from the edge, where a 20' drop and a bunch of satellite dishes were mounted on the ground.
avenfoto thought i was dead, and proceeded to wrap things up with a smooth jump.
what a great way to introduce myself to a couple of cool jumpers... Crazy
i didnt scream like a girl though, which is what goinin seemed to do on his scariest jump ;)
