This is a great thing. I have known the person doing this for 20yrs and I can't speak highly enough about his integrity, skill, knowledge, judgement, and especially his familiarity with Base and the Moab Base environment. In my opinion there is no one in the world who is more qualified to do this, and it has not been undertaken lightly. This is a very, very, professional endeavour. I wish him the success that he deserves, sincerely, B.

at least it is a very experienced jumper who is starting this up.
but even then, some of the most experienced jumpers have off headings and object strikes, despite all their experience and skill. you could say, a 'shit happens' factor.
and that is without a passenger.
what happens after a cliff strike/fatality with this?
could it cause harm to the freedom of jumping in the area?
i'm not trying to be negative, just thinking about consequences.

I was wondering the same thing as epi.

And 180's dont target the inexperienced. What happens when you have a 180 with a flailing passenger? All good that he's willing to accept the responsibility. But waivers aside, how do you educate a whuffo on that type of risk?

after more reading, i agree it wouldnt have any consequences since they do after all, have permits and such through BLM.
at least all will be aware of the risk.

It will do nothing but foster an open positive working relationship between BASE Jumpers and the BLM.

I think tandem base has a bunch of pros and cons... its ultimately up to the person who is doing the jump, and they may do some training and little history/risk lesson (I hope so at least). With tandem base it offers people the chance to experience it once without doing all the legwork to become a 'real' jumper. it also adds to the exposure of base which will in turn probably bring more people interested in base and with more jumpers there will likely be more incidents. But with more jumpers and more exposure maybe it will also bring the US to open more legal sites...
