WHERE TO START

If you are wanting to get into BASE and you haven't posted anything yet AND you are reading this, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Most people wanting to get into BASE get on this forum and ask the same question, "Where do I start?" The replies are usually harsh and, well, just plain deserving. This is not skydiving. In the sport of skydiving you have instuctors who are paid to take you by the hand and walk you thru every aspect of skydiving.

In BASE you need to learn as much as you can on your own. How you know what to learn and where to learn it can be difficult. There is very valuable information on this site that can teach you almost everything you want to know.

THE BEST PLACE TO START
  • Read

    1. Read all of the previous post in the beginner's forum. There you will see many of the same questions repeatedly asked and answered.

THIS is a great example of where to start, and how to make a first post. Read the responses and go back and read some of the resposes to the post that ask the same questions by people who don't take time to read anything first. I hope you will get the point.

  • Read Some More

    1. Read all of the BASE jumping Articals found HERE. There are ten Articals on Getting Into BASE. If you come across anything you don't understand, then do a search for it and you should be able to find the answer you are looking for. There is also some really good books on the market about BASE jumping. Do a search on those as well.

Read and learn as much as you can find. None of this is going to happen over night. Take your time. Don't get in a hurry to die. BASE jumping isn't going away. It will still be here when you are ready to make your first jump. You may have seen lots of cool videos on YouTube and can't wait to try it. Remember this, some of the best BASE jumpers in the world are the ones that you never really see or hear about. It's not about looking cool. You won't look cool with you intestines blown out all over a rock somewhere. Slow down and READ and LEARN.
