I'm what one might call a spectator..my brother is crazy about it and I just hang out with his crew for fun.I wouldn't do this , I think you're all crazy:)
But he's about to turn 30 , got into some bad shit with work and family. He really needs a good pick up.
and I have 2500 $ for his present.Anything of value I might buy him? He doesn't have anything of his own, they share a lot of stuff, don't think it's safe, but he's an ass :) ..
so..what can I buy him for 2500 $? Preferably online, I live in the middle of nowhere.

Any reason why you don't want to ask "his crew" (the one that you hang out with) ? Surely those people would have a much better idea about your brothers desires as opposed to a bunch of abrasive strangers on the internet.

PS Unless of course you mean your brother is "youtube crazy" about it, but has none or very limited parachuting experience. In which case this would mark the first time of "Trolling by proxy"

I'm not crying :) and why should I ask my question in the beginner forum? just wanted an idea for how to spend my money and I wanted an educated answer.
I am not a jumper, nor will I be, I adore safety and since I realized I'm not going to make my brother stay on the ground I might as well give him a piece of equipment that makes him less prone to break his spine or something. I cant give him a tie or buttons:)
And because I'm not one of you I don't really know where or have time to look for stuff like that, I bet there are books or magazines about it.

If you don't want him to break his spine a base rig is probably not the answer. Try a recliner or sofa perhaps.

yeah... these forums sometimes fail to be warm and fuzzy. no one here recommends selling a BASE rig to a potential clueless wannabee. thus, it might be better to pursue this via the other jumpers that "share everything."

now, if you are serious and not just someone looking for a <cough> friend <cough>, here are some ideas:
- spine protector
- helmet
- multiple GoPros
- plane ticket
- hotel room

you will not need any assistance from the belligerent masses here to find any of the above.

I found a thread about protective clothing and helmets, I think I might go in that direction. Plus he won't be able to share those :)

And get him a gift card or an acct to spend the $$ on stuff that he wants. I'm sure if you talk to some vendors they will be happy to take some $$ on account for him to spend any way he want's.

It isn't the best idea to take up BASE when life has taken a turn for the worst. We make bad enough decisions as it is when we have everything to live for. With nothing to lose I can't even imagine the kinds of jumps I'd do. Get him a new guitar or something, new camera, hookers, anything but BASE gear. Hell, even a gift certificate to the dropzone would be a much, much better idea. Actually I like that last one, buy him 100 jumps at the DZ. Hell be way better prepared for BASE.

He did the drop zone thing, he's still going there every other weekend, they all are, I think that's how they got started in the first place.
Let's just say that he's doing his own thing since we were kids, I don't think he'll ever stop . But thank you for your thoughts, at first I was scared as shit when he started it, he went through so many crazy phases in life;) . I just hope he won't infect my son:).

I would recommend taking the 2500 buckaroos and buying your bro medical insurance....LOTS of it. If he already has med ins then just pay his monthly premium for severl months. Another great gift is life ins. Make sure you put your name as the beneficiary so if (or when) he goes in, you can finally buy that new beamer you've always wanted. Dig?
