general question
Since we were asked to not pick on newbies when they post in the Beginner Forum - does that mean that we can lash out when such silly quest for rudimentary info is posted outside of the beginner safe heaven ?

Re: [dundeejumper] newbie
Yea bro. A few parachute jumps you say? I'm quite sure that everyone on this forum suggests you get a few HUNDRED more before you seek out to buy your gear, I'm also assuming that these jumps were probably made many many years ago. But I'm also sure someone around here will sell you a sweet velcro rig and an awesome raven 1 for a couple thousand....

Re: [JacobG] newbie
last jump was 3 days ago....and the few comment was a little tounge in cheek as that was my 76th jump.......and your comment about the raven 1 and velcro rig was just a piss take.............nimrod!

Re: [emememmy] newbie
sure did miss it......just clicked the forum link i was sent and didnt realise all the other stuff

Re: [dundeejumper] newbie
By the fact that you're posting here asking for first gear advice I'd assume you don't know any base jumpers. Either that or none of them want to teach you at this point. No one will allow you to attend a base fjc with 76 jumps either. So that leaves learning it all on your own.. probably not a great idea.

Jump more, build up your jump numbers, learn what you don't even know you don't know then find a mentor or take a course.

If you just want to read, check the article section Tom A. has an article about buying your first set of gear. It's a bit older so you might want a bit more information to go off before you actually make your purchase to keep up with all the latest and greatest that's available.

or

just ignore everyone and find someone who will take your money.. I'm sure you'll figure it out..

Re: [JacobG] newbie
WRONG. I have a Racer and a Raven II I'd let go for way less than that.

I'd set her up with 460--for a fee, of course.

Since something like that would make me sort of a pimp and money is no object, I'd charge enough so I could have a purple Cadillac with some 28 inch rimz.

Re: [dundeejumper] newbie

Re: [Heat] newbie
Sounds like a prodigy to me....

It's amazing how BASE attracts so many of these types. I wonder why we are still using parachutes and wingsuits when human flight can be accomplished without these cumbersome tools, especially with the amount of prodigies in this sport.

Re: [base570] newbie
Your a tool m8.......why does no one believe me......natural born talent Iv got and all u nimrods will be at my knees when I win the wwl in the next 5 years
Shortcut
Re: [base570] newbie
Yeah, and this prodigy has been jumping some low cliffs, antennas and bridges... So now of to the big walls with the expert tracking skills he has from those jumps. That will make his transition into wingsuit flying easy, and to be honest wingsuit flying is what he was born to do!

Im not hating here dundee, but seriously - too many people are dying in wingsuits these days, get a grip man. The norwegian cliffs don't give a fuck about who you are or how good you say you skills are... I hope you'll be fine and all goes well but you are approaching this the wrong way. Being awesome at hop'n'pop in Zante is not the same as flying a wingsuit. Not close at all...

It's not that you're jumping. People don't care that you BASE jump. And trust me, you aren't the first person to have more BASE jumps than skyjumps when starting both.

BASE jumps don't make you talented, judgement does. Miles D proved that a bag of dog food can BASE jump with better odds than vegas of not going bust. Don't be a fucktard, if you do it, than do it. You're not the first and won't be the last. But if you die just remember...you're going to be remembered (not by many) as the self-proclaimed "natural born talent" that uses words like, "nimrods" and "m8." That might suck for anybody that actually liked you.

Re: [dundeejumper] newbie
Don't make the mistake of thinking that you have skill, what you have is less than the average regard for your own safety. People who have that tend to excel in base, those with judgement tend to survive.

Re: [dundeejumper] newbie
Just curious..... how did the wing-suit jumps go?
Shortcut
Re: [basehoundsam] newbie
First jump was a bit scary, got my body position wrong and wingsuit didn't inflate properly for the first few seconds.....done another 7 jumps and got better with every flight but
Still not confident enough to do a bit of proximity..

Re: [dundeejumper] newbie
Careful out there..... and I wish you the best of luck playing with the gravity toys... they are a beautiful thing when EvErYtHiNg goes right, but a real son of a bitch when they go "Pear Shaped" as my aussie brother from another mother said earlier today .
Please don't take this as a negative or condescending response. I truly hope you find your path thru BASE in a mature and uninjured flight plan. Ive seen many people grind against the grain to wake up unhappy and broken. Please don't make the same mistakes so many before you have gotten sucked into making.
