By the fact that you're posting here asking for first gear advice I'd assume you don't know any base jumpers. Either that or none of them want to teach you at this point. No one will allow you to attend a base fjc with 76 jumps either. So that leaves learning it all on your own.. probably not a great idea.
Jump more, build up your jump numbers, learn what you don't even know you don't know then find a mentor or take a course.
If you just want to read, check the article section Tom A. has an article about buying your first set of gear. It's a bit older so you might want a bit more information to go off before you actually make your purchase to keep up with all the latest and greatest that's available.

just ignore everyone and find someone who will take your money.. I'm sure you'll figure it out..
