Gargoyle standard vs Helium
Any opinions on the standard Gargoyle vs the Helium for all-round use?

Re: [Williamottestad] Gargoyle standard vs Helium
they are both good rigs. ive got over 200 jumps on a gargoyle, and about 100 on a helium
the sidewalls on the helium are slightly less, making it slightly lower profile, also you can use the floorplate closing system to slim down the profile a little bit more.
i think they make all their rigs with the corner-less bottom flaps now,
helium comes standard with parapak, but you can ask to substitute with cordura if you think you may be rough on it.
effectively, they are the same rig, just the helium has a lower profile, and is slightly longer.
i have a gargoyle with a blackjack, and a helium with an ace. also just got a razor with a trango.

Helium is great for all around use...pretty much just a gargoyle with a floor plate closing loop installed and a bit longer.

i love my helium, pretty sure they come loaded with all optoins as standard. articulating, stainless, shrivel flap holder, dynamic corners. check baserigs.com for the differences

had both rigs.

the helium looks nicer. but hey they are heavy rigs not for mountains. if you order 3rings you will get hard housing for cut cables, overbuilt leg pads and cheststrap, overall heavy bult.

but if you just want a sd rigg thats robust then helium is for you.

today i have changed my rigs to zak2 and hybrid ld2.
best thing I've done.

Re: [pesos] Gargoyle standard vs Helium
The Helium is going to be as heavy as you build it. I would call Kath and tell her you want to build one light as possible if thats your route. Not sure how you over build a chest strap. If you need a lightweight mountain rig then you order the razors edge and a trango. Douggs seems extremely happy with his razor and think they still build the WS as well. Gargoyle definitely built to stand the test of time and hard use. Good luck on making your decision.

Re: [Helmut] Gargoyle standard vs Helium
this is true.
my helium has integrated risers. no articulated harness.
it is way lighter than my gargoyle with articulated hips, 3 ring system, and hard housing for cutaway.

that being said, i just got a razor, with risers sewn in, no hip rings, thinner chest strap etc.. and it is substantially lighter than my helium.

i got the razor trango opposed to the hybrid ld2, cause ive been happy as could be with my morpheus containers.
i have seen both in person, and while the ld2 may be 400g lighter, i like that the razor make me look so much cooler.

all bs aside, the gargoyle or helium will last a long time, and are great for all around use. but so are other containers...
