Skydiving Sacramento
I am just getting in to base jumping. I have read books and thought about the sport and its consequences. I still want to BASE. I live in Sacramento and I was wondering what is the best place to take skydiving classes, Preferably a place where i can buy a package for a lot of jumps, and also has good teachers so I can eventually do a solo jump. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also If anyone in the Sacramento area is going base jumping I would like to come and watch.I could help carry gear or stay by a landing. Just want to see some jumps first hand.

Thanks

You misspoke. You are not getting into base jumping, you are thinking about getting into skydiving.

The first step to start base jumping I thought is learning the how skydive. Learning the basics about a parachute and such.

You are right about that but it's kind of like the statement that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. While true, if that first step is a really tough one then it is more helpful to focus on the first step instead of looking at the larger picture.

Something that is becoming very common in these forums is posts by a complete novice (zero parachuting experience) who wants to "fast track" their way into BASE jumping. The jumpers here have become very sensitized to that and are quick to point out that it is vitally important to take one step at a time.

Skydiving is a blast. It is much more available and safer than BASE jumping and for most jumpers, less expensive over the long term. In addition to the parachuting skills that skydiving will teach you, you will learn enough about parachute equipment and usage to realize that BASE jumping is a truly critical application of that kind of equipment. If you stick with the sport (skydiving) long enough you will be able to make a truly informed decision on whether you really want to BASE jump or not.

That's where your focus needs to be. Really, if you ever do get into BASE jumping that may be years down the road, so it is best to approach it with great patience and with your eyes wide open.

the best dz is the one where you "fit in." the one that matches your style.

find that, and eventually you will meet BASE jumpers who may enjoy your company. build some trust, and THEN, ask if you can tag along.

Alright lazyass heres what I did:

1st went to this website: www.google.com

2nd typed this in search bar: "skydive sacramento"

3rd clicked on this link that came up: http://www.skydivesac.com/

4th read website how to take skydive classes and what jump packages they sold

That simple--took all of 2 mins.

Also to answer another question of yours as I know you're a lazyass: no you cannot tag along with any BASE jumpers in Nor-Cal because they hate lazy terds like you.

Wow there's idiots in every cool sport now thank you. You don't think I tried that, of course I found several schools online and read their packages. The problems is that there were not many reviews for them. The question which you failed to answer was what is the best school. Let's say one that someone tried and had a good experience with, or had a bad experience. There's also many more around the sac area and I thought someone could give me a real answer. So thank you for your smart ass remark that you bothered to write. And as far as tagging along and offering to lend a hand, why would anybody want to help someone as stuck up as you. I thought this forum would be a good start with some respectable people. I hope someone proves me wrong.

Do you go to the gas station to get your medicine and to the pharmacy to fill up on gas ?

BASE jumping forum = discussion of BASE jumping

by the same logic Skydiving questions should be directed to a skydiving forum, where questions similar to yours probably got asked many times.
here : http://www.dropzone.com/...=sacramento;#2730334

BTW in the SAC area your #1 choice for the price is Lodi

Thanks someone messaged me that. They also recommended another school too that they were familiar with so I have a few options to work on now.

you do realize that some jumpers will consider violating laws to jump?

so, what you are saying is, "you don't know me, but I'd like to tag along while you violate laws!"

that's probably not a good approach. anywhere. anytime.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!LaughLaughLaugh

Seriously, there are some awesome people here and most, if not all, are interested in helping you not die BASE jumping.

That being said, I would not put a whole lot of faith in online reviews of skydiving schools because most of the people writing the reviews are *not* experienced jumpers.

Just about any dropzone can do a great job of teaching you to jump and do so safely, but other things come into play. Like how they treat their newbies *after* they finish their student training. By that, I mean will you be able to find experienced people to jump with you or do they just let you go and forget about you?

I suggest spending a day at each DZ you are considering. Just hang out and watch. Talk to jumpers. Is it a busy place where you can make a lot of jumps or a slow place where it is very difficult to make loads? What about the prevailing weather conditions year-round? A DZ that typically has high winds will make it very difficult to get student jumps.

Do the aircraft look well-maintained? How are the facilities? Do they have load organizers for experienced jumpers?

Check 'em all out yourself and then decide.

Is there any way to force new posters into a probationary period where they can't post. Or like an agreement where they have to check a box saying they agree not to post stupid questions that have been answered every week the past several years?

Not directed at this OP in particular, but it seems like its getting to be a full time job for you responding to the same thing over and over and over.

Yes, what HJumper said. THe Parachute Center in Lodi. 209 369 1128. it is the best and the cheapest in the whole nation. Hands down.

Be carfeul of walking to the front desk and saying you want to "learn to base jump" You may actually get "fired" even though you don't work there. Lodi is special for many reasons, including that customers get fired.

Seems like you get your feelings hurt pretty easily. Don't be a pussy.

Dride was probably annoyed by your post cuz he hears it all the time. You may very well be in his shoes in a couple years and post smartass comments to newbies that ask dumb questions and say dumb things. And on forums, there ARE dumb questions.

Just fuckin' wit ya young jedi. If yer gonna get into both skyjumping and BASE ya need to "hardin' the fuck up princess" as some Oz would say. I had a valid point though you gotta admit. In your OP you did not mention anything you mentioned in post #10 (that you had ALREADY researched local DZs and were just asking personal experiences). Had you said that I would have left you alone and probably given you my own exp. I've skyjumped and BASEed all over Nor-Cal.

Now if you want the shortest, quickest way to BASE like that dude in the UK, please, please get video. GoWhores are cheap as hell now-a-days. You can strap them anywhere even your own nutz sac. JUST get video.....it's extremely entertaining when newbies who jump stuff way outta their league post their carnage videos online.

+1 what vid666 said, if yer gonna ask skydiving Qs head over to dorkzone.

+1 what Halfpastniner said, there really should be some type of filter for newly registered people. Same posts from newbies week in week out.
