Saddlebag preference?
Can decide if I want saddle bags, seems like a good idea. Except I think about those PLFs. I hit pretty hard the other night and now think that nice option/too much.

Re: [Huck] Saddlebag preference?
None of my rigs have them, but if I was to order a new one, I would get 'em. If they are empty, they present very little extra bulk.

Re: [Huck] Saddlebag preference?
I have them on one rig. They come in handy to store lots of stuff. I can fit a small plastic water bottle in them which may offer some cushioning during those hard plf's you speak of.

Re: [Huck] Saddlebag preference?
Wouldn't want a rig without em, I don't keep anything in there like a screwdriver etc that could stab me in the leg Tongue but I've got everything I need to rig/reconfigure/repair my base rig and lots of other stuff. Rubber bands, closing loops, pull up cord, tailgates, small amount of masking tape, wrench (the stamped metal kind that come with cheap swedish furniture), ripstop tape, break cord, i usually pack slider down, but if I take it off it goes in a saddle bag, pain killers, tourniquet, cell phone goes in there when i jump, lighter, dental floss (for raising lowering rope), 50' of 3mm accessory cord. And probably a few I'm missing. And its always with my base rig, the bags are sewn to the leg loops, can't forget any of it!

Re: [Huck] Saddlebag preference?
You can fit an entire sleeve of Thin Mints Girl Scout Cookies in there. My rigs don't have them so I can't carry the cookies.

Re: [Huck] Saddlebag preference?
I have a Helium with them. Each leg will hold a 12 ounce can of beer perfectlySmile

Re: [554] Saddlebag preference?
well if I go Hand held, thats 4 my rig can hold, Im in.
Shortcut
Re: [554] Saddlebag preference?
i like having one on my left leg, but i have had the one on the right leg taped down tight since i got my rig.i find its to bulky, even with nothing in it and too close to my pc.if i needed to have a bunch a shit with me, i'd just wear some cargos.

Re: [Huck] Saddlebag preference?
Be careful. I saw a guy jump with a beer in his BOC several years ago. When he deployed, his beer went in. It was very sadFrown

Re: [Huck] Saddlebag preference?
To me they seem like they would be hard to get to... and for convienence, although you might look like an idiot, a fanny pack does the same thing, but its in front.

Re: [Huck] Saddlebag preference?
Get them, I wish I had.

Re: [vid666] Saddlebag preference?
If they're empty why have them?
Anyway doesn't any of the manufactures make removable ones? Moe will...

Re: [freeflyJoe] Saddlebag preference?
They are a pain in the ass, anything you need to store that bad should be worn in ya stash bag or in ya own pockets..

Then ya gonna get someone saying what about a gps unit or phone in case of emergency, 9 out of ten times ya jumping with others, when ya fuck ya self up that bad you are beyond using a phone and someone else will do it for ya...

Re: [Huck] Saddlebag preference?
I think it depends on where you are going to be doing the majority of your jumping. Saddle bags here in Moab are great. lighter, break cord, dental floss, tibloc, webbing and a few other life savers can be conveniently stashed. I wouldn't want them on my lower profile rig I am wingsuiting with.

yup... you can easily make a small bag with interlocking velcro to attach over any existing leg pad. that way if you don't need them... take them off. too easy.

innovate people, stop going to BASE Walmart for everything!!!Tongue

I have a clamp, pull up cords, bungees, closing loops and tailgates in mine. Self contained packing unit - doesn't matter where I am or what I've lost or forgotten along the way, as long as I've got my rig and some space I can pack and go jump again. 2L water bottle bladder folds down nicely into it as well. Much more comfortable than stuffing all that shit into your pockets and much less fuckin' hassle than dragging a useless extra bag everywhere.

Re: [jakee] Saddlebag preference?
whats the clamp for and bungees, do you pack on the exit point!!!!

closing loops are as small as my dick same with tailgates/pull up cords.. i am sure they can fit in your jacket..

these days the water bottles like platypus can roll up smaller then my dick...

most of my jumps are done on 2-6 hour hike/climbs never needed em ,

i suppose its a personal preference, but i tell all my students dont bother!!

Re: [Lau] Saddlebag preference?
Wingsuiting was one of the reasons I thought I might need them, easy place to store small items that wont fit in cargo pants.. or a BASE bag (nick nack wick wack put in your fanny pack)

Nah, but it's nice to pack in the landing area sometimes. What else are ya going to do with a half hour wait for the train at Alpiglen?

Yeah, but then I've got to remember to put it in my jacket. All I know is this: I've never been pissed off to find out that I do have packing kit with my rig. The other way round, that could piss me off!

Small enough to fit nicely in the saddlebags thenWink (just guessing, I've never seen your dick).

And anyway, I own loads of stuff that I don't need, but a lot of it is still nice to have.
