V4 legpouch question.
Just got a V4 from a friend of mine and I was wondering if someone can shed some light on the correct way to attach the velcro protective patch to the bridle.
Been digging for a while and I can't find any info on this issue...

Do you have to actually stitch the patch to the bridle in a special place or do you just slip the bridle inside the patch and away you go??

This may sound like a stupid question but I never bothered using the leg pouch for other models i I have flown like my Phantom or the X-bird i had.

A pic would be great help!!Tongue
Cheers!!

Just continue not bothering, V4 is fine with BOC, imho. I hand-sewed a piece of elastic webbing (about 20cm long, 4cm wide) with some tension on the bottom skin of the right wing so it pulls the stick in when released. Works great, 100% clean reach&pull. In fact, I cut off the leg pouch completely to reduce the drag it created by a whopping 100%.

I like the idea.

Could you take some pictures and post here?

I have about 80 basejumps with the V4 now. I have never used the leg pouch and haven't made any modifications to the suit. And I have never had any problems with the pull.

I like that idea as well and might explore this venue! Cheers for that Yuri
Ideally I would really prefer to keep the pilot chute BOC.
It seems that some of you still do without any modifications so I will do a few jumps at the DZ without the legpouch and see how i feel...
Cheers for the help!

Here are the pics.

Fly:

Pull:

Before the mod, the pull was also clear, but the stick was dancing there while PC is being extracted. Dancing stick, dancing bridle, dancing PC... everybody dance! Angelic Not a very pleasant feeling to feel that party down there.

After the mod, the stick is pulled in and no longer is dancing or interfering. Much cleaner feeling down there during the pull.

It's a standard V-4 produced in late summer 2011. What does look different to you?

angle of the gripper and rib stitching seem different

Don't know about stitching, but the stick angle may look different because I took the pic with a phone from some weird angle and the pic doesn't show the body for reference. Maybe also I wasn't stretching the elastic fully so even on "Fly" pic the stick is pulled in a bit.
