Re: [wasatchrider] Which E at the Perrine?
I know of one that I do not want to jump. It is by the parking lot at the end of the hiking trail. I have seen video of one by the bridge that looked safer. I can hear the traffic, in the background... Any locals want to do some jumps today? Thank you.

Well, if you don't think you are ready for Moab, per this thread.

http://www.basejumper.com/...ost=2948971;#2948971

Then you must be ready for an Idaho cliff. After all they are all fluffy, smooth and nice. No one ever gets hurt there.
I applaud your honest self assessment and decision making skills.

Really want that 'E' huh?

Re: [bootlegtrader] Which E at the Perrine?
There isn't a cliff in Twin Falls that isn't substantially more technical than the majority of exit points in Moab. If you're not ready for Moab cliffs, jumping the cliffs here isn't a great idea.

Re: [TomAiello] Which E at the Perrine?
I came to the Perrine to make some more jumps and asses my skills. I have been jumping here for 4 days... I feel confident in my abilities. I do want my E... I am not just going to jump any cliff, that is why I asked, so I can make my own judgement. If the cliffs in Moab are considerably less technical, then I will start there. Thank you for all of the information, I really appreciate it.

You came to TF to make asses of your skills?

Re: [bootlegtrader] Which E at the Perrine?
How many BASE Jumps do you have? How many Skydives? How long have you been using parachutes of any kind? Is four days the extent of your BASE career? How many jumps have you done in the last four days? You come off as a major Newbie, not that there is anything wrong with that it's just my impression from your posts. Why are you in such a hurry? The cliffs are not going anywhere and the Perrine is fun. Moab is no joke.

Good luck.

Seriously do you have any sort of mentor/instructor who can give you an outsiders perspective of whether you are ready to go for your E? Self assessing is fucking retarded. We all think we are better than we are.

Now where is Hank with the picture of the newb wall strike he likes to post???Laugh

Just got back from Moab before the holidays; awesome time, good jumps.

Took a friend out for his first "E" jump. Heads up jumper, 1200-ish skydives, maybe 40 BASE jumps.

First jump: 90 off heading, reacted poorly, stalled the canopy all the way to the ground staring at the cliff face. and landed with his canopy in a tree and two sprained ankles. Never flew more than a few feet away from the cliff itself.

Easy cliff, good landing area, still almost killed himself. Are you more experienced or heads up than him?

What part of Illinois are you in? I will be living around Peoria and Joliet for an extended time coming up, if you are not really as hard headed and dangerous as you sound in your posts, send me a PM via BLiNC...

Re: [bootlegtrader] Which E at the Perrine?
"I feel confident in my abilities"..................abilities to to what??? Jump the mighty Perrine? That object is in the pre-school section of the BASE education book, you do know that right? Moab and the lower Es you speak of in Twin sit more in the college to grad school section. You seem to be comparing your "abilities" of jumping one easy fuckin' object to some very different and difficult objects? Correct me if Im wrong.

I hope you're just a troll on here. BASE has killed way too many people in recent history who made some really fucking stuip decisions.

not gonna give you any advice here as it aint my place but i have a question.....

did you take the time to properly tune your DBS at the bridge to your own body weight? 4 days is PLENTY of time to do that

That is a completely false assumption.

Re: [bootlegtrader] Which E at the Perrine?
My first E was at TF. I jumped off the platform next to the waterfall on the road after the hike out. Although I did do a rollover, so some would say that doesn't count. I got away with it, but it certainly was not a show of good judgement on my part.

You should prob go to MOAB or Norway if you're really set on wanting to live and walk around and all that junk. If you decide to go ahead and get your E in TF good luck and remember no matter how stupid you are there is always another jumper dumber than you. Crazy

that dude came out with the S. Carolina boyz some years back, oh he had skydives and was keen to try BASE, I think he had been to Bridge Day but that was it. He was a District Attorney from Spartanburg who showed up in Moab with a big blue Raven IV modded for BASE. he jumped the Tombstone, had the obligatory 180 and rode it to into the position you see him in. he came to rest unconcious and hanging from his lines. as people were running down the road, he woke up unaware that he was hanging from a wall. despite everyones screams to "DON'T MOVE" he began to batman back up his lines. in the end he heard everyones screams and sagged back onto his lines and waited for help. that I know of, it was a few stitches on his smacked noggin', if that, and he was fine. damn I miss the South Crackalaky gang!!

At least he was smart enough not to rip a nice new BASE canopy.

Re: [bootlegtrader] Which E at the Perrine?
Uh oh! I rarely post anymore, but I think this one is my fault. I'm the girl you met out here who spoke of the little E I wanted to get out here. I also said I was conservative, so I hope that didn't give you the impression it was a cake walk. You seem like a good kid and eager to absorb information. So I hope you are taking in everything here. I pointed out some things here to help you out, but didn't mention the E as a suggestion for you. You stood right next to me today and witnessed an injury. We all didn't understand why the jumper did what he did. Did he still have a stowed break? Did he lose a steering line? Or panic? Not sure. But I believe whatever it was, inexperience probably played a part. I hope he's doing OK. Low E with tighter landing area, may have been more than a broken ankle.
And even the highest most forgiving cliff in Moab is still a strikable object. I jump alone all the time, here, I bring a phone. But jumping alone in Moab is entirely different. It is vast and some exit points are very isolated. Do you have any emergency supplies? Do you know your way? Do you have a beacon? I'm no expert, and not one to judge, but I am VERY familiar with the reality of this sport. Please just slow down. Talk to Jimmy and Marta, but more important, listen to them.

But, if you don't want to listen, take Justin's advice and get video

Seriously though, I've spoke my long winded peace, pm me anytime

Just in case anyone wants to know, for future reference, the cliff is [near] the bridge. The landing area is small, not level, and surrounded by big rocks. Be smart...

and for those of you with a very thick skull, here's another reason :

BFL #141

This was an experienced jumper. And I mean he had hell of a lot more experience than four days at the Perrine.

Most people are making these tongue and cheek remarks in hope you will wizen up. It's your decision.

Base jumping will be around forever, you may not be.

I edited a few posts for site naming.

just because it is the Perrine, does not give everyone a pass. there are enough injuries at the bridge by over confident jumpers. we don't need to be posting the locations of cliffs that can lead to further carnage.

if you can't easily find the location, maybe that is a hint? do you really know better than those that HAVE jumped it?

I've held back until now......

A. No one wants to know your opinion.... for future reference.

B. Yes it is on the [near] the bridge Einstein. Congrats on using google earth or some knuckle head from Outback talking shit when their drunk cause you bought them a Cosmo and gave then a reach-around under the table for some site info.

C. It is NOT small, nor is any landing "level".... And surrounded by "big rocks"? Yep.... sure is..... It's also surrounded by small rocks too so whats your definition of a big rock? bigger than your head?

Listen to Cloudtramp, Spiderbaby, Jdatc, Vid666 and everyone else here telling you to not be a assclown.

And for your future reference.... keep the blood stains off the container and canopy it will increase the resale value.
